Sabrina Carpenter Roasts Leonardo DiCaprio On Her Birthday ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Leonardo DiCaprio’s penchant for dating younger girls is well-documented in history and social media. Last year, a graph demonstrating the ages of DiCaprio’s previous girlfriends, all 25 or under, was circulated online to everyone’s amusement.
Ricky Gervais even quipped about the Titanic star’s inclination to date younger women at the 2020 Golden Globes where he joked, “Leo DiCaprio attended the premiere [of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood] and by the end, his date was too old for him.” At the time, the actor was seeing Camila Morrone, who was 22 years old to his 45.
As Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating life has become part of the cultural discourse, it was unsurprising that the topic wormed its way into Singer Sabrina Carpenter’s 25th birthday celebration.

Chad Michael Murray Wants To Return For A Freaky Friday Sequel. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Chad Michael Murray is willing to reprise his role of Jake alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in the Freaky Friday sequel. Two decades after its release, in May 2023, the New York Times reported that Disney confirmed a sequel is in development. The film saw Lindsay Lohan as 16-year-old Anna and Jamie Lee Curtis as her mom, Tess, who often butted heads and accidentally switched bodies after eating magic fortune cookies.
Chad Michael Murray, who played Jake, became an instant teen heartthrob after starring in the 2003 hit, which grossed over $160 million worldwide on a budget of $26 million.
While Disney announced both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, it is unclear if other actors in the film, including Chad Micahel Murray, will reprise their roles. However, the One Tree Hill Alum expressed his interest in returning to the sequel,...

Exclusive: After a long journey across broadcast, cable and streaming, defying the odds multiple times, Nasim Pedrad’s praised coming-of-age comedy series Chad is coming to an end. A spokesperson for the Roku Chanel, which released Chad’s second season, confirmed to Deadline that the streamer will not be proceeding with future seasons.
Roku originally had committed to taking on the finished but unaired second season of Chad (along with Season 1 repeats), so a Season 3 was considered a long shot but a possibility. It is now not happening, officially ending the show’s wild ride.
Chad‘s origins date back more than eight years when SNL alumna Pedrad started developing the comedy for Fox. The broadcast network picked up the half-hour, starring Pedrad as teen Persian-American boy Chad Amani, to pilot in February 2016.

Helldivers 2 is a technical and visual marvel from Arrowhead Game Studios and the reception to the game has proven that. Johan Pilestedt serves as the game director and has remained humble and knows to give credit where it is due.
The recent times have not been kind to most modern video games in terms of attention to detail. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind had a rather impressive water physics for its time and Pilestedt longed for those days again.

Helldivers 2 is one of the greatest surprises that PlayStation has put out for this console generation, and game director Johan Pilestedt is more than happy to take charge. Despite having the responsibility to lead a game studio, Pilestedt still finds the time to play video games.
Larian Studios came out swinging with Baldur’s Gate 3, and the game has received countless accolades and universal praise from both critics and gamers alike. However, the studio is ready to move on and Pilestedt fully supports the decision.
Helldivers 2 Director Wanted More Baldur’s Gate 3 Content
Johan Pilestedt is the game director of Helldivers 2 and serves as the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios.
If something is too good, people will naturally seek out more of the same content, However, Larian Studios is comfortable with leaving the game as it is to pursue something different, and despite wanting more, Pilestedt understands the team wholeheartedly.

The final season of Snowpiercer has finally found a home.
The fourth season of the sci-fi drama will air on AMC after the company acquired the rights to the Tomorrow Studios-produced series. It comes after TNT scrapped the show last year as part of a wider Warner Bros. Discovery content write down strategy.
Deadline revealed in January 2023 that the fourth season wouldn’t air on its original home, as part of a slew of content cuts that also including the axing of Batgirl, Abrams’ HBO drama Demimonde, and TBS series such as The Big D, Chad and Kill The Orange Bear.
It is the latest series that AMC has saved after being scrapped elsewhere; the network bought Captain Nemo series Nautilus after it was cut by Disney+.

There have been no shortage of camp slashers over the past 40 years. Even films that aren’t called Friday the 13th have tapped into the zeitgeist and delivered horror in a setting that is supposed to be all about fun. From Sleepaway Camp to The Burning to You Might Be the Killer, if there is one thing that we know as horror nerds, it’s that bad things happen at camp, and you should steer clear.
This is most definitely the case with Thomas Walton’s new camp-based slasher Camp Pleasant Lake. It’s a film that seems to try to reinvent the camp slasher film, but doesn’t really succeed in filling it with life. It tries to do several things, in fact, and doesn’t really succeed in any of them.
But let’s start at the beginning. The Very beginning. 20 years ago, in the midst of their parents’ divorce,...

Glen Powell is attached to star in Chad Powers, which has just been given a series order by Hulu. Powell co-created the half-hour comedy with Michael Waldron, and both will serve as writers and executive producers.
The Chad Powers character was introduced in a sketch that aired on ESPN+’s Eli’s Places series. Eli Manning will be involved as an executive producer along with Omaha Productions’ Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and ESPN.

No one loves Eli Manning as much as I do. Somewhere, I have a book on Manning inscribed, “To the only Giants fan who never booed Eli.” (Accurate.) There are the jerseys, cards, the autographs, the bobbleheads. I was at Eli’s first game, his retirement ceremony game, and so many in between. One time, I interviewed Manning while he was ostensibly promoting Frank’s RedHot Original sauce just so I could relive the glory days he never knew we shared. But I know a ripoff when I see one, and Hulu’s new series “Chad Powers” is a direct attempt to capitalize on the gigantic success of Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso.”
Before “Ted Lasso” was a show, Ted Lasso was a heightened fish-out-of-water original character created solely to promote a major media company’s sports brand. It was to be a one-and-done comedy skit. Before “Chad Powers” was a show,...

Film historians will inevitably look back on 2023 as a year of risk-taking, with filmmakers turning to personal projects backed by major studios. On paper and in hindsight, a movie about the world’s most iconic doll sounds obvious, but it took real balls—or a lack thereof in Ken’s case—for Mattel and Warner Bros. to get behind a deconstructed look at the toy in Greta Gerwig’s existential Barbie. Universal arguably took an even bigger risk, putting their full force behind a three hour movie about the birth of the atomic bomb. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer proved perfect counter-programming to Gerwig’s Barbie, as moviegoers championed the double act into the summer box office unicorn Barbenheimer. Martin Scorsese brought his American Western crime epic Killers of the Flower Moon to the screen after seven years of development. Emerald Fennell debuted her second directorial effort, the darkly imaginative and highly divisive Saltburn.

Aaron Craig won a semifinals match in the ongoing Jeopardy! Champions Wildcard tournament, but he didn’t win much favor with the fans who called him out for clapping and cheering for himself. And in a Reddit discussion, the attorney originally from Toronto, Ontario, said he might have gotten “overly excited.” On Friday’s episode of the syndicated game show, Craig went up against Leah Wiegand, a stay-at-home home from Austin, Texas, and T.J. Tallie, an associate professor of African history from San Diego, California. Craig eked out a runaway with the last clue in Double Jeopardy, and despite a Final Jeopardy stumper, he won the game. When host Ken Jennings announced him as that day’s champion, Craig clapped with his hands over his head and shouted what sounded like “Let’s go, Chad!” After Friday’s episode aired, Jeopardy! fans expressed their disapproval in a Reddit thread. “The...

Exclusive: Roku has begun removing titles including scripted shows Most Dangerous Game starring Christoph Waltz and Slip from Zoe Lister-Jones.
It is the latest streamer to remove titles from its service following similar moves by Paramount+, Disney+, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max and AMC Networks.
Roku revealed yesterday that it was set to remove some content as part of a cost-cutting drive that also saw around 300 employees laid off. It said that it would take a hit of between $55M-$65M for removing “select existing licensed and produced content from company-operated services on its TV streaming platform”.
The company will, however, continue to order original series and sources note that this process is part of its regular review of programming.

Drew Barrymore was accompanied offstage Monday night by actress and singer Reneé Rapp after a man named Chad Michael Busto rushed to the front of the auditorium of the 92nd Street Y in New York.
Busto can be heard yelling “Drew Barrymore!” as the talk-show host was asking Rapp, who recently left “The Sex Lives of College Girls” to pursue her music full time, about her newly released album, “Snow Angel.”

Do social media influencers have souls? The film industry really doesn’t seem to think so. So much so that this new generation of streamers, hell bent on pushing their “merch” and driving their “subs” no matter the cost, are almost too perfect as horror movie victims. Who doesn’t want to see Logan Paul pissing himself with fear, while getting chased by a man with a sack for a face?
In fact, it’s such a novel idea that the entire found footage sub-genre seems to have taken a screaming left turn over the past year, to focus on just that; “livestream” screen-life movies where a nasty piece of shit is hunted down by nefarious forces, and we’re all not only allowed, but actively encouraged to clap and cheer whilst they repeatedly soil themselves. Dashcam and Deadstream, 2022’s pioneers of this new movement, lead with a mix of nasty laughs and guffaw-inducing gnarliness,...

Forget about watching and rewatching the trailer for "John Wick: Chapter 4" in slow-motion until you know every frame of it by heart. There's another way to prepare for the film's upcoming theatrical release next month, and that is: by engaging in the obligatory "John Wick" movie marathon.
For a few lucky /Film readers, that's about to get a whole lot easier. Sure, you could fire up Peacock and do the whole streaming thing with the three previous "John Wick" movies, but you won't find Mr. Wick's secret stash of special features there. Fortunately, before the trilogy becomes a quadrilogy (to be followed by "John Wick: Chapter 5" at a later date), we're giving away a few copies of the new three-film "John Wick" steelbook box set, courtesy of Lionsgate.

A Patricia Highsmith adaptation with a talented cast that has yet to air on Showtime just moved to Netflix, according to Deadline. This is great news for viewers who will get to see the thriller series "Ripley," which features "Fleabag" and "His Dark Materials" actor Andrew Scott, "Lovesick" and "Emma." star Johnny Flynn, and "The First Lady" alum Dakota Fanning.
The project comes from "The Night Of" co-creator Steven Zaillian and is an adaptation of Highsmith's novel, "The Talented Mr. Ripley." The move is also great news for TV fans in general, as it's proof positive that even in a time of economic uncertainty, it's possible for streamers and cablers to move their projects elsewhere -- as opposed to cancelling them completely before they even see the light of day.

In a bizarre move, TNT has opted not to air the final season of the acclaimed sci-fi show Snowpiercer. Now, for anyone paying attention to the entire saga of Warner-Media, it was confirmed back in April that TBS and TNT would no longer air scripted programming. By that time, TNT had less than ten scripted shows. Most notably, American Dad, The Last Og, Miracle Workers, Chad, and Animal Kingdom were the only shows left before Warners Bros Discovery shifted gears in terms of programming. David Zaslav has been on a major cost-cutting spree, and the two channels have been affected

The creators behind series “Tuca & Bertie,” “Gordita Chronicles,” and “Whistleblower” have issued statements alleging the Warner Bros. Discovery merger has had disastrous effects on female Poc showrunners.
The statements, published as an addendum to a December 21 Writers Guild of America report on the effects of mega-mergers, are titled “How the Warner Bros. Discovery Merger Hurts Workers and Diversity.” The report claims the Wbd merger de-prioritized female-led series featuring stars of color and ultimately led to the shows’ cancellations.
“The casualties of this mega-merger include numerous projects created by, featuring and/or centering the experiences of women and people of color,” the statement reads, citing multiple projects “including ‘Batgirl,’ one of very few mainstream superhero films to feature a Latina lead actress; ‘Full Frontal’ with Samantha Bee, one of a handful of woman-hosted late-night shows; ‘Gordita Chronicles,’ a series about a Dominican immigrant family whose showrunner was a Latina woman; ‘Tuca & Bertie,...

It has all the makings of a new and disturbing trend in television — companies taking fully produced, unaired series and moving them off their books — but insiders are hesitant to say whether cancellations like what we saw today at Showtime, as well as what has happened at Warner Bros. Discovery, AMC, Starz, Netflix and Peacock over the last few months, is becoming the new normal.
Consider it more of a one-time “right-sizing,” they say.
“I don’t think those companies are going to want to make a practice of this on an ongoing basis,” a partner at a talent agency tells Deadline. “They’ve done it and they weren’t burned to the ground by the town, but the reaction was really, really strong. So barring any further kind of financial apocalypse or whatever, I think they’re going to want to reassure people this is a one-of-a-kind thing is...

The showrunners of “Tuca & Bertie,” “Gordita Chronicles” and “Whistleblower” have rallied together under WGA West to call out the ways in which they believe the merger that created Warner Bros. Discovery led to the abrupt cancellations of their series.

The promise of an unlimited future for television content has run into the economic realities of a business driven by unpredictable market forces. A recent shift in strategy for the largest producers of content has become apparent in recent weeks: Major networks and streamers have reversed course and canceled previously ordered or renewed series — and even halted plans to launch already produced programs. Every outlet scraps a series or two from time to time. But the past 12 months have seen an unprecedented number of about-face decisions on greenlights and renewals.
As executives, producers and top creative talent descended on the Television Critics Assn. press tour this month in Pasadena, the overriding theme of conversations was about the state of the cable and pay TV marketplace, which is still slogging through a difficult transition from linear to streaming.

If you were looking forward to watching The Lazarus Project (above) on TNT tonight, you better look for something else. The acquired British drama series is the latest TNet series to miss its scheduled premiere date. The fourth season of Miracle Workers and the second season of The Cube were both Mia from TBS' schedule earlier this month.
Unfortunately, the move by the TNets is nothing new since the Warner Bros. Discovery merger last year. The second season of Chad had its second season premiere cancelled without notice -- twice. The comedy was ultimately cancelled by TBS even though the second season had been completed months earlier. The show was later sold to The Roku Channel, and season two will air on the free service sometime this year.

“Going through a merger — and this was a humungous merger — is tough, it’s tough on the content creators, partners, staff, we’re a little ‘rear view mirroring it’ and we’re thrilled about what 2023 is,” she said. “Just now is when we’re able to put our strategy in place; last year was based on bringing two giant entities together.”

In the film, Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) is the wealthy daughter of Buffalo businessman Carter Cushing (Jim Beaver). HBO Max's "Minx" is no more. Variety reports that the 1970s-set comedy series about members of a company working to publish the first feminist porn magazine has been cancelled, despite already receiving a season 2 renewal in May 2022. In fact, according to Variety's sources, "Minx" was nearing an end on second season production, meaning it now joins a small group of recent series -- including the TBS comedy "Chad" and the excellent Netflix show "Glow" -- whose renewals have been reversed after the cast and crew has already started working on the next season.
"Minx," which stars "New Girl" favorite Jake Johnson and "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor Ophelia Lovibond, is a sort of sex positive odd couple series about a down-and-dirty publisher, Doug (Johnson), who teams up with an initially uptight feminist, Joyce (Lovibond), to create Minx magazine, a fictional women's magazine that trades in both full-frontal male nudity...

HBO Max has officially canceled series “Love Life” and “The Nevers” by pulling the two shows from its slate, alongside HBO sci-fi drama “Westworld,” which was axed earlier in November after four seasons.
The decisions are attributed to Warner Bros. Discovery’s review of its content slate and efforts to slash costs at the recently merged company, which faces 3.5 billion in debt.
Earlier today, the streamer reversed course on its sophomore renewal of erotic period dramedy “Minx,” which hails from Lionsgate Television along with the romantic anthology series “Love Life,” starring Anna Kendrick and William Jackson Harper. “Love Life,” which aired its second season with the latter star in late 2021, was not yet renewed for a Season 3.

HBO Max has reversed course on its comedy series Minx — canceling the show despite an earlier renewal for a second season.
The Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streamer renewed Minx, from Lionsgate Television and creator and showrunner Ellen Rapoport, in May, a few weeks after its 10-episode first season concluded. The Boy Who Lived evidently survived the apocalypse. TBS released the official trailer for the fourth season of its “Miracle Workers” anthology on Tuesday, showing “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe leading a sitcom-riff on the “Mad Max” franchise.
Created by Simon Rich, previously known for the Fxx series “Man Seeking Woman,” “Miracle Workers” is a comedy anthology series, with each season telling a new story with the same cast playing different characters. Along with Radcliffe, each season features Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Karan Soni, and Jon Bass in the main cast.
Season 1 was set in the modern day, focusing on a pair of angels attempting to avert Earth’s destruction, while Seasons 2 and 3 were period pieces set in the English Dark Ages and the American Oregon Trail, respectively. After decades on broadcast — most recently on Fox — the 71st Miss Universe competition is the latest TV event making the move to streaming. The Roku Channel has sealed a one-year deal to be the official English-language home for Miss Universe, which will stream live from New Orleans on January 14, 2023, at 7 p.m. Et.
Among the changes in the move: Steve Harvey, who had hosted for five years as part of the pageant’s deal with Fox, also won’t be back. According to Miss Universe Organization CEO Amy Emmerich, a new host — expected to be a female — will be announced in the coming weeks.
“My goal was really to make sure we led with a female lens this next go-around,” Emmerich says. “We should hopefully have that to talk about soon… It was a rare opportunity to be able to kind of restart in a whole new place.”

As its title implies, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” further explores how the African nation at the sequel’s heart relates to the rest of the world — and it’s far from the last time audiences will get the opportunity to do so, either.
In an interview for this week’s Variety cover story, “Wakanda Forever” producer Nate Moore says that Marvel Studios is currently developing multiple series set within Wakanda for Disney+ with director Ryan Coogler’s production company, Proximity Media.
“This world is expansive, and there are so many great characters,” Moore says. “Beyond what happens with this film, there are more opportunities to go back to Wakanda.”
Moore says that “some ideas” for Disney+ shows involve established characters from the “Black Panther” films, but there are some shows with characters “that would be completely new.” When pressed for just how many projects are in the works, Moore laughs:...

Roku has welcomed Netflix into the ad streaming market.
As SVoD service Netflix this week launches a low-cost, ad-supported tier in 12 territories, Roku Head of Originals David Eilenberg said his platform doesn’t see a direct threat and instead is focused on the benefits of long-term market changes.
“We believe the that the catalytic effect of [Netflix’s entrance] will have on the holistic shift from linear to streaming on ad spend outweighs short-term competition,” he said.
He also argued that the Roku box is a “fundamentally different” product to Netflix and other low-cost streamers “as ours is truly free and they ultimately require a monthly subscription, even at a reduced fee. They resonate differently with consumers.”
Netflix is also available through Roku in the U.S. “All of these companies who are competitors in one respect are partners in another,” said Eilenberg.

“The grand experiment of creating something at any cost is over,” warned David Zaslav.
But the President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery believes that the “golden age of content” is “absolutely not over”.
This comes as Zaslav revealed plans to raise its savings target to 3.5B, up 500M over its initial target.
The new owners of HBO et al. have been cutting content costs across the company, killing a number of high-profile series such as J.J. Abrams’ HBO drama series Demimonde, which was reported to have a budget of mid-200M, as well as slashing series such as The Big D, Chad and others on the Turner networks side.
It has also got HBO Max out of the reality business and killed its kids and young adults content on the streamer.
“I was recently asked if I thought the golden age of content was over. I said absolutely not.

The advertising slump claimed another corporate victim on Wednesday, with streaming platform Roku forecasting that its fourth-quarter results will come in well below Wall Street expectations as a weakening economy tempers companies looking to sell their products on television and streaming.
Roku reported that it added 2.3 million subscribers during the three months ended Sept. 30. However, while investors cling to how many people are paying for the service and the fact that streaming hours on the Roku Channel increased 90 during the period, the company telegraphed that the final quarter of the year won’t be impressive.
Shares tanked in after-hours trading after Roku warned investors that it expects revenue of roughly 800 million. That’s a decline of 7.5 from the year-ago period. The stock plunged 22 to roughly 54.
