When Stan is interviewing for a translator, behind him on a board is a picture of Sergei Kruglov, the wolf of Leningrad, from the episode Red October Sky s3 e13.
The first scene after the opening theme shows houses on stilts. This is an actual community of building (including houses) built on stilts, called "Stiltsville", that was constructed over time in Key Biscayne. The area is now part of Biscayne National Park. No new buildings can be built and older vacant buildings were decommissioned. (Many were destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992.) The former community is slowly disappearing over time. Only 7 buildings remain; from an all-time high of 27.
