Kodi Lee took the big prize last night as the winner of America’s Got Talent’s 14th season, but there wasn’t much of a victory dance for the Simon Cowell show or NBC.
With a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49, Agt fell 29% from its Season 13 finisher of September 19, 2018 to hit an all-time finale low. While the 10.08 million who tuned Wednesday was not an all-time viewership finale low, the total sets of eyeballs were down 22% from the finale of Season 13.
Having said that, Agt and a primetime A Little Late With Lilly Singh did deliver the Comcast-owned net a clear Wednesday win with a 1.1 in the key demo and 7.56 million viewers overall. Also, Agt scored a Season 14 Wednesday 18-49 high with the finale, bouncing up 25% from last week.
Yet a low is a low and not the way you want to go out.

Wednesday was not a great night for season finales of broadcast competition series. NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” which was the top show in primetime, sunk 29% in ratings vs. last summer’s finale. Fox’s “MasterChef” dropped 27% among adults 18-49.
Neither of those were actually the largest decline of the evening, however. CBS’ “Big Brother” — not the season’s finale — fell 33% from the same night last year.
NBC was first in ratings with a 1.1 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 7.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. The two-hour “Agt” season finale from 8-10 p.m. posted a 1.5 /8 and 10.1 million viewers. A primetime special promoting Lilly Singh’s new (very) late-night talk show at 10 received a 0.5/3 and 2.5 million viewers.

Fox was second in ratings with a 0.8/4 and third in viewers with 3.1 million.

CBS’ reality staple Big Brother saw a two-tenths dip Wednesday, when it drew a 1.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 4.2 million viewers. That result tied NBC’s America’s Got Talent as the night’s highest-rated show, with the latter holding steady and easily winning primetime overall in viewers with its live results show. NBC finished No. 1 in both metrics overall.
On Fox, BH90210 continued its decline from its August 8 premiere, losing another tenth from last week, when it drew 3.05 million viewers. It was preceded last night by MasterChef, which ticked up.
NBC’s other reality talent competition Songland managed to hold steady, leading into a new Hollywood Game Night, also even with a week ago.
At the CW, Bulletproof stayed put while Hypnotize Me saw a tenth slip.
ABC aired all repeats.

Hypnotize Me is a game show that has started up on the CW. For those who are curious, it features contestants who must cooperate with one another to complete routine tasks while under the influence of hypnosis. It is interesting to note that Hypnotize Me is hosted by Taye Diggs but features the hypnotist Keith Barry who has plenty of experience with this kind of entertainment. In fact, it should be mentioned that Barry was featured on the British predecessor to this show as well. What Are the Two Different Applications of Hypnosis? Anyways, there are bound to be a

It seems audiences aren’t really clamoring to be reunited with the Beverly Hills 90210 gang, as Fox’s BH90210 continues to dip. The nostalgic and super-meta revival of the classic primetime teen soap saw a decline to an 0.8 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and drew 3.05 million viewers Wednesday. That’s a big hit from its series premiere on August 8.
Meanwhile, it seems that whenever Big Brother airs, it usually comes out on top — and Wednesday was no exception. The CBS unscripted series continues to hold court during the summer, climbing in ratings with a 1.3 and drawing 4.48 million total viewers, matching its season high.
ABC took a step back last night and aired a slate of reruns, while NBC’s America’s Got Talent managed to hold steady as the night’s most-watched program. Freshman Songland also was on par with last week, and Hollywood Game Night rounded out the evening.

Ninjas are known to be stealthy, and so it is that American Ninja Warrior has sneaked up on the TV world to dominate the Friday ratings over the last few weeks.
Admittedly, the numbers come as the night is dominate by reruns (including American Ninja Warrior itself). But still, the athletic competition may be winning over some new fans for its faster, higher, stronger format. On the evening, Anw scored an 0.6/3 (up a tick from last week) and 2.66 million to take top honors in the demo wars.
That proved to be a strong lead-in for a Dateline rerun, which scored an 0.5/3 and 3.05 million audience, leading the peacock network to tie with Fox for the evening’s top honors, albeit numbers that may fluctuate once football preseason is factored out early next week.
At ABC, a special celebrating We Day, an annual series of stadium-sized youth empowerment events, scored an 0.3/2 and 1.71 million.

Fox’s “Beverly Hills, 90210” revival, “BH90210,” made a big splash last night among adults 18-49, coming in as not just the top show in that all-important demo for Wednesday’s primetime, but the highest-rated premiere of any new show this summer. Meanwhile, The CW’s two series debuts, “Bulletproof” and “Hypnotize Me,” didn’t start off so hot.
Two Season 1s came to an end last night: CBS’ “Love Island” and ABC’s “Press Your Luck” as well.
Fox was first in ratings with a 1.2 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 3.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8 p.m., “MasterChef” earned a 0.9/5 and 3.4 million viewers. The series premiere of “BH90210” at 9 scored a 1.5/8 and 3.8 million viewers.
