The Return of The Driller, Some Basic Chemistry and a River of Despair.

In this episode Mumm-ra starts summoning the Driller to work for him. Even when we had already seen him in the "Spitting Image" episode (S1 Ep18), this story seems to have been produced or at least planned earlier because the necessity that the Driller has for diamonds seems to be explained a little better and even when the episode is called "Return of the driller" it gives a little bit the impression of being the first time that the Driller explains why he needs diamonds.
The reason why Mumm-ra needs the Driller is to make an underground tunnel between an Acid Lake and the Cat's Lair. Luckily the Thundercats are warned of the danger because of the smell that the reaction causes while approaching to their fortress.
The Thundercats quickly mobilize themselves to get the "Sponge Fog" necessary to neutralize the acid, surviving to a lot of dangers, including giant insects and interestingly the "River of Despair" which we had seen in two former episodes "Mandora, the Evil chaser" and "The Time Capsule". Of these three episodes, this is the one where the "River of Despair" can more clearly be taken as a metaphor, mainly because they only had to cross it in their way back (in other words, when they were already short of time; IN DESPAIR) and not when they first went to cut the "Sponge Fog". It is good to mention, though, that differently to the River of Despair that seems to "appear" in their way back, the presence of the giant insects is explained by the story saying that they hunt by night.
