Interesting but too short and lacking in consistent insight

Included on the DVD for season 1 of The Mighty Boosh, this short film gives some background for how such a thing as The Mighty Boost came to be broadcast on British television where it could easily be accessed by children, if you would believe such a thing. The film follows the formation of the Barratt/Fielding partnership, the development of their weird play/standup show and charts their road to the Beeb via Edinburgh and festival successes.

It is not as insightful as perhaps one would have liked as it does rather cover the bullet points but it is still reasonably interesting to see the amateur footage of their early shows gradually turn into the impressive television creation that it became. A little detail or some more very specific stories would have really helped it but the 15 minute running time means there really is no time for it – not sure why it is so short given that it was a DVD extra and could conceivably been as long or as short as it needed to be but there we are. Overall then, perhaps too short to really engage but still interesting in the (all too brief) chance to see a summary of a creative process that lead to this very enjoyable series.
