This fantasy/flashback episode is well directed by Bill Harris and shows us a number of interesting things rarely if ever seen on the show. We learn Commander Zero is married and has a wife and a son named Jonathan. Jonathan has Supercar and Fireball XL5 items in his room. We see Venus out of uniform for a change as she agrees to babysit Jonathan so that the Commander and his wife can go play bingo--er, attend an "important meeting". We see Space City engineer Joc go on a mission along with an unnamed XL9 pilot. The plot of the story is that two space pirates, Captain Katt and his sidekick Patch have been hijacking precious supplies being sent to earth from a distant planet. Without this radioactive material, earth would be "finished" so they plan to take over the earth by stealing all the supplies of this special material. Okay, so the plot is pretty silly but its just supposed to be Venus telling a story, so I give it a pass on that level. The episode otherwise is well acted with a number of good moments and as I wrote above, many things we've never seen before. Worth a look to all Fireball XL5 fans.
