Over the last couple decades, director Mike Hurst has brought us several genre films – House of the Dead 2, Room 6, The Darkroom, Pumpkinhead 4: Blood Feud, Paradox – and his latest is a self-financed labor of love he has been working on for the last four years. It’s called Transmission, and it has been officially accepted into the Pigeon Shrine FrightFest festival that’s set to be held in London from August 24th through 28th. In anticipation of Transmission‘s FrightFest screening, we’ve gotten our hands on the trailer for the film, and you can check it out in the embed above!
Here’s how Hurst described the film: “Basically the whole movie takes place on a TV screen as we channel-surf late at night, slowly realizing that the different stories on the different channels are actually all connected, all parts of the same horrific story…” As the viewer flips through the channels,...

One of cinema’s most vengeful creatures could be coming back to the big screen, as a Pumpkinhead reboot is currently in the works and could start filming as early as next year.
EW reports that Peter Block, executive producer of the Saw films, Holliston, Frozen, John Carpenter’s The Ward, and numerous other horror movies, has purchased the rights to the Pumpkinhead franchise that kicked off in 1988 with Stan Winston’s directorial debut and continued in three sequels (the latest one being 2007’s TV movie Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud).
Along with writer Nate Atkins, Block has put together a screenplay for a Pumpkinhead reboot (at this time titled Pumpkinhead) that has the same spirit of the first film without being a shot-for-shot remake. Block is currently searching for the right director to helm the reboot, and he’d like to begin filming in early 2017.

Around these parts we're Huge fans of the Pumpkinhead creature, but judging from a cinematic standpoint, this big bad has gotten one raw deal after another. The original film was great, and its sequels got progressively more horrid one after the other.
Could this franchise get back on track? It sure couldn't do any worse!
The original Pumpkinhead was produced by the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group, headed up by Italian producer Dino De Laurentiis. De Laurentiis went on to produce Hannibal and Red Dragon.
For the rest of the franchise, the Motion Picture Corporation of America (Mpca) headed up by Brad Krevoy took the reins and is now back to produce the rebooted series.
The ’88 film starred Lance Henriksen as a man who conjures up a gigantic vengeance demon called Pumpkinhead to destroy the teenagers who accidentally killed his son.
While Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings is indeed bad, it's watchable...

The 1980s creature feature Pumpkinhead paved the way for three sequels (three!), a video game, a short-lived comic book series at Dark Horse and the endless rumors that a reboot might be in the works. Seriously, these things have come and gone so many times, I've lost track. There's a report today that Brad Krevoy - who produced Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings, Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes and Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud - is aiming to reboot the monster that Stan Winston realized on the screen back in 1988.
