MADRID -- Spain's newest national TV broadcaster, La Sexta, captured .3% of the viewing audience in its first week on the air, audience research analyst Sofres said Monday. According to La Sexta's first available audience figures, which cover April 1-16, the broadcaster performed better in all the time slots with their target 16-45-year-old audience, capturing .5% overall for the time period. Spain's other new broadcaster, Cuatro, which launched in November, now holds 5% of the audience share. Humor shows El Analista Catodica and El Intermedio ranked at the top of the channel's programming highlights, with .9% and .6% of the viewing audience respectively. La Sexta is available in limited parts of Spain via terrestrial broadcast and is carried on satellite platform Digital Plus and cable service ONO. The company expects to have coverage in 80% of the territory by this summer, when it will air the World Cup. Top advertisers for the new broadcaster included Telepizza, Mensajes Moviles and Lotus Watches.
