- TriviaMora Pol was originally to be played by Rene Auberjonois himself, much as Data's creator Noonian Soong was played by Brent Spiner, and as The Doctor's creator Lewis Zimmerman would later be played by Robert Picardo, but this plan was scrapped when it was realized how much time it would take each day to get Auberjonois out of one make-up and into another. Most DS9 episodes were shot in 7 days, but it was estimated that with Auberjonois playing both parts it would take at least 14 to complete the shoot.
- GoofsWhile trying to console Odo when the researcher who first was assigned to work with Odo falls ill, Sisko speaks about how difficult it was to see his own father get sick and grow frail, and how helpless he felt. Sisko concludes, "But, in the end, I knew there was nothing I could do," suggesting that his father died. However, as we learn later, Sisko's father is very much alive.

Odo Again Needs to Find His Heritage
The man who found Odo on Bajor is filled with giddiness over the possibility that there is another such creature in the Gamma Quadrant. After an away team is assaulted by something, they barely make it back to the station. What happens next is the introduction of a threatening, amorphous thing that tests Odo. While the scientist is almost obsessed there are lessons to be learned. Decent episode.
