"You're Only Young Twice" finds Shirley called in to see Danny's school psychologist Dr. Beecher (Charlotte Rae, THE FACTS OF LIFE), who conveys how he's been misbehaving in class, suggesting tolerance as the most likely solution. His siblings are astonished to see Danny defying common household rules by skipping homework for TV, and staying up late to watch talk shows. Laurie finds her date with Richard Whipple (Bruce Kimmel) spoiled by Danny's intrusive nature, while Keith is awakened at 1:00 AM for his brother's invitation to view a Buster Crabbe movie. This all leads to Dr. Beecher's conclusion that Danny desires to be included as an adult in all activities, until he chooses to double date with Keith, when any attempt to copy his big brother's technique is lost on 11 year old Gloria Hickey (Patti Cohoon's second and final appearance, after "Promise Her Anything But Give Her a Punch"). Keith's date Molly is played by little known actress Maggie Wellman, daughter of famous director William Wellman, whose best remembered titles include 1927 Oscar-winner "Wings," "The Public Enemy," "Night Nurse," "A Star is Born," "Nothing Sacred," "Beau Geste," "The Ox-Bow Incident," and "The High and the Mighty." This was Bruce Kimmel's third of five appearances (first of two as sports crazy Richard Whipple). The featured song is "Am I Losing You," composed by Irwin Levine and L. Russell Brown, already issued as the sixth single Mar 1972, peaking on the Billboard charts at a lowly 59, the first to miss the Top 40 (briefly heard in "Whatever Happened to Keith Partridge?"). Coupled with B-side "If You Ever Go" (heard in "I Am Curious Partridge"), both tracks were taken from fifth LP SHOPPING BAG, issued the same month, Mar 1972.
