A subplot involved Matlock running a stop sign that he claimed he couldn't see because a bush obscured it. However, Matlock completely ignored the white stop line that was visible on the pavement which would have made his excuse worthless. (In Part 2, when he's in traffic court, even the officer doesn't mention the white stop line either.)
Update: The reason the officer doesn't mention the white line is because the white line is not relevant. The white line shows where a motorist is required to stop WHEN SIGNALED TO DO SO. If there is no Stop sign there, or no other signal, then the white line has no legal relevance.
