- Higgins: Magnum, I don't know if you're pulling my leg as yanks put it, or not. But you are acting frightfully strange.
- Magnum: Strange?
- Higgins: Yes. You're being nice.
- Magnum: I'm sorry Higgins, I didn't know that was bad.
- Higgins: Well with anyone else it wouldn't be, but with you, one must be suspicious.
- Magnum: Well, I will try and revert to type.
- Higgins: Please. You're upsetting our relationship. Being nice makes me... quite uncomfortable.
- Colonel Ki: With all due respect, General Hue, I have my own authority. I came here to tell you this out of courtesy, not necessary.
- General Nguyen Hue: You came out of hate and petty jealousy.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: What do you know about the Tiger?
- Magnum: [pointing a gun at Buck] Not much, but you're gonna brief me.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: I can't do that, Tom.
- Magnum: Oh shucks, Buck, why not?
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: Rules are rules.
- Magnum: Yeah, 'an eye for an eye' is my favorite one.
- Magnum: [narrating] There are times you know the worst has happened without anyone telling you. My heart was racing, my palms were beginning to sweat. I knew my nightmare was beginning again. Only this time, I was wide awake.
- Rick: I would like to propose a toast... to the luckiest couple in Saigon. Me and TC.
- [Magnum laughs hysterically]
- TC: Say what?
- [TC laughs nonetheless]
- Rick: No, I mean it, we are the last of the bachelors. Everyone else we know is married.
- TC: Orville, I've heard you say some dumb things in my life, but that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard you say.
- Magnum: No, I think that's a good toast, TC, I'll drink to that.
- Michelle: Eh, you'll drink to anything.
- Rick: You see, you've only been married three hours and already she's cuttin' ya up on the booze.
- [Rick has grabbed a small Vietnamese boy]
- Magnum: Rick, what the hell are you doing?
- Rick: While you were biddyboppin' around, little Victor Charlie here has been right on your tail.
- Magnum: What?
- Rick: That's right.
- [the kid makes a break for it but Rick grabs him once more]
- Magnum: Will you let him go?
- TC: Hey hey, he's right, man. We spotted him awhile back.
- [Magnum, Buck Greene and McReynolds drive to Little Saigon]
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: She never did tell you she was married to a North Vietnamese officer?
- Magnum: Of course she did. She also told me he'd been killed in the Tet Offensive.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: [nods] That's what she thought. The week we were pulling out of Saigon, she found out he was alive.
- Magnum: Why the hell didn't she tell me?
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: She was afraid to. Afraid you wouldn't leave.
- Magnum: Damn right! Not without her.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: Michelle's a very devout Catholic, Tom. As far as she's concerned, her marriage to you wasn't legal, especially in the eyes of the Church.
- Magnum: [accusingly] So you set it up to look like she'd been killed.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: I had to! She begged me to. It was the only way she could get you to leave Nam.
- Magnum: In exchange for what, Buck?
- Lieutenant McReynolds: Little Saigon.
- [McReynolds stops and they exit the car. Magnum faces Greene]
- Magnum: You didn't answer me.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: She's been my contact in Saigon.
- Magnum: [disdainfully] You bastard.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: You know better than that. She's married to a high-ranking NVA officer. Of course I asked her to be a contact! It wasn't any precondition to helping her. If she'd have said no, I'd have still done it.
- Magnum: [angrily] You had a gun to her head!
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: [harshly] You're involved emotionally in the situation. And it's clouding your judgment. If it was me instead of you, you'd have done the same thing.
- Magnum: [firmly] No. No, I wouldn't. I'd never use anybody as vulnerable as she was for a little information. We'd lost the war, Buck! It was over.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: That war's never over.
- [pause]
- Lieutenant McReynolds: Uh, Thomas, the chapel is at the end of the street. She'll be praying to the Virgin Mother...
- [Magnum walks away]
- Lieutenant McReynolds: Colonel, are you gonna let him go, just like that? I know Magnum. He's gonna run with her.
- Colonel 'Buck' Greene, USMC: [dryly] You can't run with someone unless they want to run with you, Mac. Michelle may be in love with Magnum. But Madam Hue will never leave her husband.
- [Buck Greene starts walking away. McReynolds follows him]
