A moving tale
DVD_Connoisseur7 October 2018
"Don't Say Goodbye" is one of the more emotional episodes from the first series of "Magnum P.I."

This episode doesn't skimp on quality cast members with Ted Danson and Mercedes McCambridge both making appearances. A chiselled Danson plays the newly wed husband of Amy Crane, played by the beautiful Andrea Marcovicci. Danson is immediately unlikeable in the part, a testament to his acting ability.

Mercedes McCambridge (who will always be, for me, the voice of "The Exorcist"'s demon) plays a wealthy blind woman who is on the board of The King Kamehameha Club. She's fantastic in this role.

I like this episode a lot. It shows real heart.

Here's Cheers!

Warning: Spoilers
Forty years before he took on the title role in the sitcom Mr. Mayor, Ted Danson makes a guest appearance in Don't Say Goodbye, a first season episode of Magnum, P. I.. Anyway, it would have been ironic if Ted Danson had played a character named Norm, with Cheers and all that, which debuted one year after this episode, and thirty-nine years before Mr. Mayor debuted.

Anyway, it's interesting seeing Ted Danson's character become the bad guy at the end.

Also, Mercedes McCambridge, famous for her role in The Exorcist, guest stars in this episode.

Later on Ted and Tom starred together in Three Men and a Baby.

Truly enjoyed this episode.

I really enjoy this episode of Magnum especially love the Agatha Kimball character and the great Ted Danson's character Stewart pre he and Selleck's Three Men and A Baby and no doubts pre Cheers for Danson. I do wish they'd kept the Agatha Kimball character around, I don't recall her in anything else. The humor lighthearted and poignant moments are touching throughout this episode. So to was the mystery surrounding Agatha's accidents in her wheelchair and Amy the granddaughter's mystery. All in all an excellent episode for this classic tv series.
