- TriviaWhen Logan says to the fence, "I had a partner once. He was a great stick-man" he's referring to Lenny Briscoe, his partner on Law & Order (1990) from 1990-1995. Jerry Orbach, who played Lenny Briscoe for 13 years, died in 2004, right before this episode aired. His death was written into the series and several characters, including Mike Logan, were shown reacting to his passing.
- GoofsLogan finds a couple of methadone dosage units at the shooting gallery, and later when they arrest Maya at the methadone clinic the nurse gives her brother his methadone and just lets him walk off with it. When someone is being treated at a methadone clinic they are not allowed to take their medication with them, the methadone has to be administered on site, the nurse dispensing the methadone is required by law to ensure that the patient drinks and swallows all of it before allowing them to leave. This is to ensure that the patient is complying with their prescribed regiment and is not abusing or diverting their methadone.
- Quotes
Detective Carolyn Barek: [to Johnny] Detective Logan knows about that kind of hate, see his mother used to make him buy booze for her.
[to Logan]
Detective Carolyn Barek: Tell him about it, he needs to know.
Detective Mike Logan: Well, after the first drink it was all hugs and kisses, a few drinks later, she'd grab whatever she could find and start beating me with it. Then when she got tired of holding whatever she was hitting me with, she'd use her fists. And then the next day, it would start all over again.
- ConnectionsReferenced in Law & Order: Criminal Intent: In the Wee Small Hours: Part 2 (2005)
He was handed a real hot potato. An owner was shot to death during a jewelry store robbery and that crime spawns several more where a young man during the robbery just loses it and starts shooting even when the people are complying.
That he's a junkie is obvious, but to catch him they have to find out why. Future SVU regular Peter Scanavino plays the out of control robber who is terrifying in his unpredictability. Scanavino has a female accomplice in Zoe Lister-Jones who later turns up dead.
I won't reveal more, but the key here is Rebecca Wisocky who is Scanavino's mother. She's terrifying herself in what she's made of her son.
The Law And Order franchise showed some good judgment in bringing back Chris Noth as a regular in another of its shows. A good familiar face and one the audiences liked was necessary to share the load with Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe. Noth partnered well with the female partners he had in the show. And Mike Logan got an honorable retirement in CI eventually.
What more could he ask? And you will be pleased with his first case.
