While dining at a city restaurant, Insp. Fox sees two men struggling high on a neighbouring building. One is pushed over a rail and falls to his death, and Fox rushes out to investigate. The clues - a mining company executive, a man with political ambitions and a revivalist minister - seem unrelated until Georgina enters the picture. She "entertains" gentlemen at a lush city apartment while maintaining the illusion of being a working girl with a suburban flat. A man named Foster is arrested for murder, and Fox is the main witness at the trial, but the evidence presented by the defence counsel throws doubt on Fox's credibility as a witness.
