- A group of masked men break into the home of an international arms dealer and kidnap his wife. McGarrett soon realizes the case is far more than a simple kidnapping - he's now involved with agents of a foreign civil war.
- Ben Cunningham, an international arms dealer, is at home with his business partner when a group of armed men break in and kidnapped his wife. When McGarrett arrives the husband is unwilling to cooperate, a condition imposed by the kidnappers. McGarrett soon discovers the husband is somehow involved with rebel soldiers of an Asian country. The rebel agents, instead of demanding money, tell Cunningham they want the three plane loads of weapons due the Malanesian government to be sent instead to their agent in Hong Kong.
Cunningham goes to the Malanesian Consul to ask for a delay in the delivery of the weapon shipments. They press him for the reason why and he finally admits rebel agents have kidnapped his wife. The Consul tells him that based upon his previous dealings with these rebel agents his wife is probably already dead. He also knows Cunningham is deeply in debt and offers him an extra $500,000.00 to ignore the rebels demands and proceed with the scheduled shipment. Cunningham, apparently believing his wife is dead and with nothing to lose, agrees.
Later, the Consul goes to the warehouse to personally supervise the transport of the weapons. While there a band of rebels attack only to be thwarted by the timely arrival of McGarrett. The rebel leader is shot but before dying tells McGarrett he had not kidnapped anyone.
McGarrett then goes to the crime lab. The pathologist tells him that the blood type of the blood found in a van believed to have carried Mrs. Cunningham when she was kidnapped does not match the blood type listed in her medical history. McGarrett is beginning to realize there is more to this kidnapping than meets the eye.
Later, McGarrett talks to Hank Merrill, Cunningham's business partner. He explains that because of bad deals before now Cunningham is in debt and desperately needs money. Afterwards, McGarrett tells Danno he thinks that Cunningham is not a victim but actually part of the operation. In essence, Cunningham has planned to use the kidnapping scheme from the beginning to get the Malanesian government to pay the extra $500,000.00 so that he could pay off his debts. But now McGarrett's investigation is threatening to derail his whole plan.
Cunningham calls the kidnappers and demands they immediately release his wife - once she is free McGarrett will drop the investigation and he will be able to operate more freely. The rebels refuse to do so until they have received the weapon shipments they have demanded. The kidnapped wife overhears the conversation and tries to escape, but in the process accidentally sees their faces. They decide they can no longer risk letting her live once they get their weapons.
McGarrett goes back to the Consul to demand his full cooperation. He reluctantly agrees and tells McGarrett the details of his deal with Cunningham.
The Five - 0 team trails Cunningham to the place where he will meet the kidnappers. He is shocked to find out that his wife knows all about the kidnapping scheme and begs her to forgive him. As McGarrett's team moves in, Cunningham tries to save his wife, only to be killed by the kidnappers who are then subdued by Five - 0. The show ends as McGarrett leads Mrs. Cunningham away, consoling herself that in the end her husband tried to save her.
