First main role for Dr. Rainer Franck (Rainer Hunold), who debuted in the previous episode as lawyer for Dr. Dieter Renz himself. In this episode there are still references to Dr. Renz, a thing never happened again by the other lawyer changeovers.
In the German original version, Matula and Dr. Franck begin to use the more intimate "Du" address only starting from the end of this episode, while playing their first pool game together.
Starting from this episode Matula begins quitting smoking. He is seen taking a cigarette and throwing it away without lighting it. He will be seen making this some times again in some following episodes, then he definitively quits, as he will state in several episodes. He will occasionally smoke a cigarette only in some very stressful situations.
Dr. Franck's practice is located at the top of a tall building in Walther-Kolb-Straße, Frankfurt, in a duplex containing the practice and his home. This will be his accommodation until episode 13.6.
One of the very few episodes in which you can see another character than Josef Matula driving his car: in this case it's Berthold Kramm (Dieter Kirchlechner) who tries to escape using Matula's Alfa 75.
