A fun Diagnosis Murder episode

Warning: Spoilers
The Bela Lugosi Blues is a fun episode dealing with the supernatural and vampires. I wonder if it inspired Baywatch Nights with its supernatural elements and all. Phil Morris appears and everyone appears to have much fun as Mark tracks down the vampirish killer before it's too late.

I think Diagnosis Murder is a product of the Clinton Administration, and Murder, She Wrote is a product of Reagan-Bush. Murder, She Wrote is much safer in the very 99.9% white Cabot Cove.

The whole point of the episode is that it was ridiculous and "out there". EVERY SINGLE SERIOUS TV SERIES does this at least once. Why? Because it's fun. Throwing in a vampire to shake things up makes it's more interesting to watch, and reinforces what watchers of Diagnosis Murder tend to forget...not EVERY case will be solved...and I thought it was great. Sure, a little cheesy, a little predictable, but that was the point too. I especially liked the end when Steve shows his dad what forensics recreated in the box that they found at the first murder scene and he thought they were joking...a wooden stake. Hilarious! All in all, if you take this series SO seriously that you can't take an episode like this with a sense of humor, you have no business watching at all, because they all have at least SOME humor in every episode.

A campy and entertaining homage

One of the best in the second series. A beautiful villainess (who admittedly struggles with the campy role), energised acting by all (esp. by Victoria Rowell who also looks especially beautiful) and a script with all the traditional creepy tropes that add up to a very entertaining homage. Phil Morris is also very funny.

Sci-Fi madness.

Warning: Spoilers
So i'm going to start with saying I absolutely love Diagnosis Murder. It has been my favorite TV-series for years. But yesterday evening I watched episode 13 of Season 2, The Bela Lugosi Blues and I was shocked.

The whole vampire-idea was quite ridiculous and when Mark got thrown around by that woman, I thought he would wake up from some weird dream or find out he was drugged/ hypnotized. But that didn't happen and the episode ended with the secret being held between Jack and Mark.

If I remember well, they did this once again in Season 6, Episode 6 titled Alienated. In which some unrealistic things happen to Jesse but he finds out he had indeed been drugged.

So I officially state that this episode of DM is the worst ever made, somehow the writer or the director used a little too much fantasy.
