Judgement

Makepeace drops her friend Sarah off to the train station. She is due to be married soon and is going to London for some shopping.

Sarah is to met by her father at the train station in London. When the train arrives Sarah is found dead and she had been raped.

Her father is distraught. He is Lionel Hackett a senior judge and he served in the army with Spikings.

Makepeace is upset when she finds out about Sarah. She does remember a weird looking man going to the train station at the time. Makepeace nearly ran him over.

It is a classic case of whether the weird man is the actual murderer. Every time he is on screen there is foreboding music. He acts strangely and is shown to be drunk. It could be a red herring.

Judge Hackett goes out looking for this man for his own vengeance when he finds out his name.

However Dempsey is not sure about the weird man. He finds out more information from Sarah's autopsy that Dempsey had carried out slyly by a doped up doctor.

I did find it hard to believe that even a Judge could stop an autopsy by phoning the Chief Constable.

Also Makepeace got to London so fast after dropping Sarah off to the train station. Sarah would had been better off taking a lift from her.

Finally the episode title. Judgement should have no 'e' in it.

Judge but no jury

This was a pretty good ep overall (though I doubt an autopsy on a murder victim could be blocked like that). Glynis Barber is a friend of the victim and during the briefing she goes into shock when hearing what happened to her friend. It's well acted by her.
