Brilliant episode

Stolen artifacts, country manor, lords and lady's, a line of suspects, attempted murders, and a rousing finale with every medieval weapon, from epees, swords and mace, used. What is there not to like? Brilliant episode.

Best episode from series 1.

For me this is the best and most enjoyable edition from series 1 of Dempsey and Makepeace.Part of the fun is taking the show out of London for once and into the English countryside.Ralph Michael makes a welcome return as Harriet's father whose Castle the precious jade had been in when stolen. There is a house full of weekend guests so there are a number of suspects the first time you see it.John Terry who played Felix Leiter in The Living Daylights Bond film a few years after this is in this edition.Brandon and Barber seem to be enjoying making this episode also.So warmly recommended this edition.

Cry God for Harry
Prismark1012 November 2020
A daring robbery with the theft of a priceless collection of Ancient Chinese Jade figures.

Makepeace has been commanded to investigate and been told to take Dempsey with her. The place where the theft took place is Winfield Hall, owned by Makepeace's father.

There is a gathering of some people for a bit of pheasant shooting. They seem to be an eclectic bunch and Naismith the butler is acting very mysteriously.

Pretty soon Dempsey and Makepeace come across two more dead bodies.

This one really is an Agatha Christie type murder mystery in a mansion that morphs into Michael Curtiz The Adventures of Robin Hood.

It really is hokum. Dempsey walks into an ancestral home and is then surprised that it is Makepeace's family home. What did they talk about on the way there?

Then Dempsey is surprised that the staff are bringing his case to the house and that he will be staying in the house. Well if he was not planning to stay, why did he pack a suitcase? In fact where did his tuxedo come from?

It is riddled with plot holes but works as a mystery with a lot of suspicious people. Naismith was the most unconvincing butler.

Seretta Wilson and Glynis Barber had bit parts as secretaries several years earlier in a not very good story of Bognor.
