The Gift of the Woodi (#7.19)
ComedyFan20106 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Woody goes to Kelly's birthday party and can't get her an expensive gift. He writes a song for her but Kelly doesn't understand that this is a gift and asks him where the present is. He is all upset but she can't understand what being poor means. Only after he gets her some jewelry with all the money that he has does she get what it means that he has no money.

A nice episode that so well combined sweet and funny. I really felt bad for Woody but his song was so funny and adorable it was great. Just like his conversation with Kelly.

Another great addition to the episode is Lilith teaching Rebecca how to be a tough business woman. Every moment of it has a great joke.

Kelly, My Darling, You Are My Sunshine

Warning: Spoilers
Woody can't afford an expensive gift for his wealthy girlfriend Kelly so he writes her a song instead.

This is the natural next step in the Woody-Kelly courtship: money will be the main issue dividing them, as she's spoiled innocent and doesn't understand the concept of poverty. The Kelly Song is wonderful, and this is a sweet episode with some great laughs and some of the most heavy-handed setups in comedy history.

WOODY: Did Mrs. Peterson ever make a fool out of you in front of other people?

Incoming! The B-stories this week feature Rebecca dressing like Lilith to improve her career and Cliff enticing patrons with the Beetabaga Fajita on a Pita. Hilarious.

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly................

Woody is out his league. Kelly is utterly vacuous, having no concept what normal people deal with. She can't fathom why someone wouldn't just hand her everything. There's a great scene where at the end of her birthday party, he dad says, "Let's all go out and look at Kelly's cars." This is one of the finest of the Cheers canon. The Kelly, Kelly song is great.
