This is the last appearance of the old Sunnydale High School.
Riley's belief that a normal guy was not enough for Buffy is a sharp contrast to Angel's point of view when he had broken up with her in The Prom (1999), claiming that she deserved someone "normal."
Willow says: "Better to light a candle than to curse the damn darkness". This comes from a Chinese proverb - "Don't curse the darkness - light a candle", used by Former Governor of Illinois Adlai Stevenson (1900-1965).
Tara says: "I taught you teeny Tinker Bell light". The pixie Tinker Bell is a character from the 1902 play-turned novel Peter Pan, by J.M. Barrie. In the original stage productions, Tinker Bell was represented on stage by a darting light "created by a small mirror held in the hand off-stage and reflecting a little circle of light from a powerful lamp".
When Riley plays basketball, the song "Breathe" (1998), by Nickelback is heard.
