Garfield Lynns/Firefly was a character the producers had always wanted to use on Batman: The Animated Series (1992) but Fox forbade them from using any fire-based characters.
The heat-resistant suit worn by Batman would go on to inspire two Bat suits in Batman Beyond (1999). First the futuristic Bat-suit which also has a mask that covers the entire face suit and the Bat Armor he developed, shown in Disappearing Inque (1999).
