- Aunt Bee heads out of town for a few days, leaving Andy and Opie to take care of themselves. When Peggy volunteers to cook for them, Floyd tries to convince Andy that she's trying to catch a husband.
- With Aunt Bee away visiting relatives for three or four days, Opie and Andy are left to fend on their own. Andy's new girlfriend Peggy offers to stop in and help out, but Andy says it's not necessary. Floyd the barber overhears the conversation and warns Andy that, if he's not careful, Peggy will soon be taking over and making herself indispensable; once that happens, wedding bells won't be far behind. Sure enough, the first night Peg shows up, she cooks them a fabulous dinner and tucks Opie into bed. Remembering what Floyd told him, Andy sets about avoiding her until he realizes that they are both adults and no harm can come from one friend helping another.—garykmcd
- Aunt Bee heads out of town to visit a relative, leaving Andy and Opie alone for a few days. Fearing that they will forget the basic functions of living, she asks Peggy to stop in and see about them while she's away. Almost immediately Andy runs into Floyd, who cautions him that this is only the first step toward matrimony: First it's checking in, then long suppers, then tucking Opie into bed, then more time spent together - and before long it's Mr. and Mrs. Andy Taylor on the mailbox. Andy doesn't take Floyd's warning seriously until he starts to see the beginning of the pattern Floyd had laid out. Even Opie notices it. Panicked, Andy tells Peggy that he wants to spend time alone with Opie. When Peggy drops by after a disastrous dinner of weenies and beans, Andy begins to see the magic in having her around, that there's good food, good music and good conversation to be had. Happily, Andy determines that he and Opie can spend time with Peggy without there being marriage in the future, despite what Floyd says.—J. Roberts <armchairoscars@hotmail.com>
