When Dick (John Lithgow) goes down into the garage and begins to preach about the sins of rock music to the Tommy and his friends, he gives the same sermon that he gave in the movie "Footloose (1984)," in which he played a conservative minister.
The garage where Tommy and his friends rehearse is the same garage set from "Roseanne."
In addition to being an actress, Shay Astar (August) is actually an excellent singer - she in fact has a side career as a singer/songwriter.
Until this episode, the lettering on Mary's office door has been black. When Dick gets his name added to the door, both names are in white lettering. In the next episode and throughout the remainder of the series, both names are again black letttering.
The tune August is singing to (badly) is actually the same tune as the band's other song, just played much slower.
