When sitting on the roof, Dick Solomon wears a robe. Towards the end of the scene, a viewer can see the stitched initials "JL" on the robe, actor John Lithgow's initials.
"There are some things in life money can't buy. For everything else, there's this mission statement." This is a parody of Mastercard's TV ad campaign that ends, "For everything else, there's Mastercard." Another mission statement was "to boldly go where no man has gone before," which is the mission statement for the Starship Enterprise in the TV show Star Trek (1966).
There are two, possibly three references to NBC shows. Harry mentions Katie Couric ("The Today Show"). The four Solomons sing a line from the "Friends" theme song regarding Dick's budding friendship with Mueller. From a TV Guide, Dick reads "Jerry dates a blind girl," which could be a reference to a "Seinfeld" episode. Also, this Third Rock episode closes with a reference to a PBS show, the theme to "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood."
