Carthago is shipwrecked following a terrible storm; clinging to the figurehead, the crew is suddenly surrounded by strange black vessels. They are very old Phoenician ships, says Cid, because they are covered with pitch (hence their black color) for sealing. Little reassured, our friends are taken in by men tested by the storm and the trip with their Queen Elyssa, the one who founded Carthage. She had to flee the throne at Tire and dreams of building a new city that will match Tire.

Indeed, the Queen who reigns on this island saw her twenty year old son fall seriously ill (a kind of coma). The Carthago gets its supplies in a small quiet port located on a commercial sea route (Maltese coast, 300 BC). The small port is soon attacked by two PIRATES ships which grab goods in the quay boats, as well as products on site. The attack is led by a colorful character (scarlet red cape), his face partly hidden by a grotesque mask which however shows a Machiavellian smile. Our heroes help defend the village (Sedik plays the slingshot, Hamoura hooves). The looters even try to kidnap a beautiful girl (Zennubia), but the latter is valiantly saved by Kothar and escapes kidnapping. Unfortunately, the village was ransacked.

At the end of a new time journey, our heroes dock in the port of the island of Salamis to refuel. Our companions get to know CRATINOS, a tragic author. But during the theatrical and musical festivities in Athens, conspirators prepare a Persian invasion. The traitors were wealthy citizens of Athens, disappointed because democracy had confiscated their blood privileges. Sedik then had an idea. What if they took advantage of the theatrical competition to denounce the traitors and make the citizens of Athens understand that they must unite and resist to save their freedom? The concocted play is a comedy, Prince Hamoura, whose main character is a donkey. Hamoura (proud to show his advantage for the beautiful eyes of Pamphyla) symbolizes a rich lord of Athens capitulating to the invader. Séfrou made it clear to Sédik during their adventure: It is often through laughter that we make people think more precisely.

In the time of Hannon, the Grand Admiral who first explored Africa, our companions learn that the men of HANNON have been attacked by swift demons, captured and are forced to exploit a gold deposit on the edge of a river in Africa. But who are the mysterious individuals commanding the "furry demons"? The masters of the gorillas are the descendants of Phoenician sailors who made the trip around Africa, under the reign of pharaoh Nechao II, a century and a half before that of Hannon. Following a shipwreck, abandoned by their own, they plunged into the land and founded a new "kingdom", patiently training the gorillas so that the ferocious beasts obey them. The descendants vowed a fierce hatred for humanity which forgot them. The gold fever, the humid atmosphere of the place, the seclusion, made them half mad.
