The movie suggests that Rolf ANschütz had the idea for preparing Japanese food in the GDR in the early 70s In real life he prepared his first Japanese meal in his restaurant in 1966 for a journalist party, after Dr. Mutsumi Hayashi visited Suhl the same year.
At the end of the movie it is said that the Japanese section of Anschütz' restaurant was visited by 1974000 people by the fall of the Berlin Wall. However this number is not clear. According to various sources the amount of guests differ between 17000 20000 guests per year, which would put it within 20 years to around 440000 guests.
