This was originally a 3 minute film that was shot for Julia Radochia's digital video class at Los Angeles City College in the spring of 2003. The only equipment that students were given was a 1-chip DV camera. Because of the poor technical quality, Radochia didn't think to submit it to festivals. But over a year and a half later, after finding a bit of festival success with two other films, she decided to re-edit "Like His Father". The 3 minute class limit had made her first version choppy so she expanded the film to 4 minutes to give it some breathing room. Jeremy Ward and Robert Baker Shaw added a musical score. Not much could be done to help the sound, but, despite its flaws, it was selected for 3 festivals.
