Actor Richard Moll died Thursday at his home in Big Bear Lake, Calif. He was 80.
The deep-voiced, 6 foot 8 inch actor was best known for the role of the bailiff Bull Shannon in “Night Court,” co-starring Harry Anderson and John Larroquette, from 1984 to 1992.
Moll was nominated for a Saturn award for the 1985 horror movie “House.” He voiced the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face on “The Adventures of Batman & Robin,” as well as Scorpion on “Spider-Man: The Animated Series. He also had parts in “The Flintstones,” “Jingle All the Way,” “Casper Meets Wendy” and “Scary Movie 2.”
He had a recurring role on sitcom “Getting By” starring Cindy Williams and voiced the bodyguard in “Mighty Max.”
Moll went on to appear in the 1999 satire “But I’m a Cheerleader” with Natasha Lyonne, in which he played a gay man who shepherded teenagers sent to a re-education camp by parents who suspected they were homosexual.

Peter Capaldi is far from the only Doctor Who actor to appear in multiple roles. Mark talks us through the many others to have done so...
It's been just over a year since the BBC announced that Peter Capaldi would play the Twelfth Doctor. There were rumblings of his casting in the week before the announcement was made, to the point where bookies stopped taking bets on it.
We've spent the last twelve months in anticipation of what seems like dream casting for the Time Lord, but some of us were a little sceptical that an actor of his profile and standing would take the role until it was actually announced, but “he's been in it before” was not atop the list of reasons why we thought it was too good to be true.

Over the weekend, Dave Shelton — an award winning writer, cartoonist, and voice actor, with a varied resume that includes Everybody Loves Raymond, National Lampoon, Tweety And Sylvester and Against Type — and Tami Zorge hosted the world premiere of his pilot Professor Creepy’S Scream Party at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood.
The “Garage TV” pilot, which was shot in only one day and edited in one more, is a live action variety show that is billed as a retro mash up of sixties kids shows, horror hosts, and dance shows. Picture the Hilarious House Of Frankenstein meets Vampira meets American Bandstand, with a Vincent Price-esque mad scientist as host. How does that not pique one’s interest?
The event is a testament to how hard work can pay off. The pilot process was described to me as a Living In Oblivion-esque experience, with financiers backing out, the lead actor...

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by Mti Home VIdeo.
Director/writer: Rolfe Kanefsky.
Mti Home Video's latest release is one part noir thriller with a second story involving a surreal world in an isolated locale. This film stars Steven Bauer (Scarface), Steven Man and Katherine Randolph. Director Rolfe Kanefsky might be best known for his work and After Dark's Nightmare Man and here he trades in the horror genre for a moderately paced thriller. 1 in the Gun is really two stories in one, with the first part a standard noir film and the second half a surrealist experiment in a character's dreamscape. This reviewer preferred the first story, while the second seemed more like filler.
The first noir story involves a quadrangle or a four character love/lust story. There is a lot of loving going on with Randolph's character Katrina, the center of much of the attention.

Katherine Randolph uses her charms to wangle out of a sticky situation in 1 in the Gun.
Hidden agendas, dangerous seductions and double- and triple-crosses are the order of the day in 1 in the Gun, a film noir-styled crime thriller from writer/director Rolfe Kanefsky (Nightmare Man).
The movie begins with passions igniting between Katrina (Katherine Randolph, Jarhead), the beautiful wife of a wealthy businessman, and Mickey (Steven Man, Edge of Nowhere), a homeless, struggling artist who has been hired to paint their home. Needless to say, someone’s gonna get hurt…
This one reads like the kind of straight-to-dvd movie that would have trickled out to video stores at the end of the 1990s, particularly with its genre-friendly cast, which includes Robert Davi (The Dukes), James Russo (Public Enemies) and Steven Bauer (Scarface).
That said, 1 in the Gun received a very small release...

The latest and soon to be released Fertile Ground from AfterDark Films showed much promise.
A nice looking haunted house thriller with a decent, slow build and the enormously talented actress Leisha Hailey from the hit Showtime drama "The L Word" in the lead role. Had I realized beforehand that director Adam Gierasch from the sorry excuse for a remake of Night of the Demons wrote and directed it I might not have been so surprised when the movie completely fell apart about half way through.
This is further proof that "AfterDark Films" are a hit or miss. Films like Frontier(s), Penny Dreadful, and Reincarnation are some of the hits. Chalk up Fertile Ground alongside Nightmare Man and Tooth & Nail as one of the misses.
Fertile Ground centers around the loving, young couple Nate and Emily Weaver played by Gale Harold and Leisha Hailey.

Best known for a plethora of low-budget direct-to-video scare flicks, scream queen Tiffany Shepis (Nympha, Nightmare Man, The Ghouls, Tromeo & Juliet, etc.) has now turned a corner in her career where she finds her name attached to genre films of growing quality and intelligence. Movies like the dark drama Rule Of Three (see feature here), the Butcher Brothers’ 2010 festival hit The Violent Kind and this year’s Arizona-lensed The Frankenstein Syndrome. Shepis spoke to Fango about (and we got exclusive pics from) the latter mad-scientist tale, written and directed by The Great American Snuff Film’s Sean Tretta.

Our own Joe Knetter has been on a roll this year, this time writing and starring in another terrifying tale that has so far attracted one hell of a genre-centric cast. Sit back, dear readers, and get ready to take in the strange goings on at Hallow Pointe.
Synopsis
Madeline's Closet is a quaint bed and breakfast hidden away from the world on a hidden dirt road in the woods. Henry and Jane are hoping a weekend there will help rekindle their love for each other. Overall DVD Rating: 2.0/5.0 What makes this year’s collection rather forgettable is the lack of extremes on either side of the rating spectrum. The first two years produced some truly excellent genre gems including “Borderland,” “The Hamiltons,” and “The Abandoned.” At the same time, movies like “Dead Lake,” “Undead,” and “Nightmare Man” should be buried in a deep hole and never see the light of day again.
I have to admit that I liked the variety in quality of the last two years more than this year, when nearly every film registered as forgettable more than good or bad. There was one notable standout,...
