Castles & Dreams
In 1999, Blackmore's Night recorded a song called "Castles & Dreams"; that does not appear on this live DVD, but there is more than enough material here for discerning fans. Kicking off with that typical mystical instrumental introduction, Candice appears and launches into "Cartouche" which sets the tone for the rest of the evening, a good time to be had by all, audience participation included.
A couple of songs will be familiar to Deep Purple fans: "Soldier Of Fortune" probably less so than "Black Knight" and "Child In Time", the latter two from the Mark II line up of the band.
Excluding the bonus material, the concert itself was recorded in the grounds of a castle. Where else would the Black Knight and his Fairie Queen perform?
Magnificent stuff, family friendly entertainment like only Ritchie, Candice and their band of minstrels can deliver, a far cry from most of the (admittedly magnificent) rock concerts of the 70s and 80s.
