'Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara grew up hating her first name. "The only person I knew who had that name was my great aunt -- and she was old," said Vergara. "So, for me, my name was like an old lady." Now, plenty of young people are named Sofia in her home country, Colombia, and evidently the 37-year-old beauty had something to do with that. Photos: Sofia Vergara "Yeah, I became very popular," she said. "I've been working for 20 years!" she adds, like that explains everything. Vergara started...

Curvy actress Sofia Vergara's mum made the actress swear not to have her huge breasts reduced to land more film roles. The Colombian pin-up, who briefly dated Tom Cruise, was advised to cut a few breast sizes if she wanted to be taken seriously as an actress at the beginning of her career. She says, "They thought I was too much."
But it only took a call home to help Vergara make up her mind and decide to keep her busty look. She explains, "My mum was like, 'God is going to punish you if you take your t**s off'."
Sofia Vergara appeared as main cast in the ABC TV series "Hot Properties" in 2005. Two years later, she played another situation comedies in ABC "The Knights of Prosperity". She also appeared on the big screen for several movies such as "Chasing Papi" and "Lords of Dogtown".

Ever since NBC announced that it would be doing an American version of the English-accented Prime Suspect, I've known who should play Helen Mirren's part, and if you've ever tuned in to Friday Night Lights, so have you: Connie Britton. Hands down. No contest. End of discussion. Not only is she a one-woman home run, but since Fnl is wrapping production in May on what's likely to be its fifth and final season, the coach's wife will be available to tackle the leading lady role for which she's so long been ready. That said, if the Peacock's vision is...

While last night's Modern Family didn't quite make me double over with laughter the way its first two episodes did, it nonetheless pulled off the trick of effortlessly straddling the territory between absurdist humor (Ed O'Neill's Jay smashing a remote-control plane into son-in-law Phil's face) and genuinely moving (Julie Bowen's Claire giving dad Jay a conciliatory kiss on the head to thank him for an act of kindness toward her injured husband). Plus, it's not as if there weren't plenty of laughs in this episode, which focused on unexpected pairings -- Jay and Phil; Claire and her grade-school...

It's the end of the road for three freshman series: ABC's Hot Properties, CBS' Threshold and Fox's Reunion. ABC has opted not to pick up additional episodes from Hot Properties, sources said. The Warner Bros. TV comedy has completed its original 13-episode order and will stay on the air through December. After a sluggish start in its original Friday 9 p.m. slot and equally soft results from the trial move of Threshold to the Tuesday 10 p.m. slot last week, the Paramount Network TV sci-fi drama will be taken off the schedule for the last Tuesday of the November sweep this week, replaced by a repeat of CBS' promising new crime drama Criminal Minds.
