Anime often consists of two opposing elements in the sci-fi genre. One being a surreal depiction of a future existence. The other being, a reflection of post-modern ideology gone awry. Gantz illustrates a metaphysical notion that contradicts human judgment as much as it does morality. If you were to be observational, dubbing the series as a cautionary tale would be appropriate. Gantz's main flaw is certainly it's schizophrenic character exposition. It is in fact so irritating that it deters the development and quality of the series. What separates Gantz from being generic and modestly entertaining, is the execution of it's editing, it's somewhat ironically a paradox in the regard that it simultaneously utilizes a frantic and serene style. Brutal, kinetic, intriguing and fierce, Gantz is a another example of an animated sub-genre that is becoming more prevalent in pop culture.
