In India, an "encounter" is a shootout between the police and criminals. The term gained notoriety when the country implemented its controversial "encounter specialist" branch. These specialists are trained to engage in gang-like, urban warfare and virtually have an unchecked license to kill. Their primary objective isn't to apprehend, it's to engage and kill.
Nakul Vaid was nervous on the first few days of the shoot as Nana Patekar was scolding him for not getting a proper haircut for his look in the film.But few days later Nana Patekar was cheerful and jolly with Nakul Vaid which surprised him.The reason was Nakul Vaid character had to look nervous in the film in order to get the expressions right Nana Patekar scolded him giving the reason of haircut and so that his character should actually look nervous in front of camera.
Although high, 56 is not an unheard of kill count for an encounter specialist. The record "score" is around 110.
When the film was launched, it was titled " Daya" since it was based encounter specialist Daya Nayak. Ram Gopal decided to change the title.
Randeep Hooda went to audition for the film Ab Tak Chappan. Varma told him to come back the next day . When Hooda came back, Varma told him he did not want to sign him for Ab Tak Chappan. Instead he wanted to sign him as the main villain in his next big movie, "Ek". The film Ek was never made and the role in Ab Tak Chappan went to Nakul Vaid.
