This film is generally believed to be the first ever film produced with both color and sound. It was filmed using the nitrate film stock which has a chemical composition similar to gunpowder, and is highly vulnerable to fire and decay. This film was made in the period that is often referred to as the "inflammable years of cinema."
This short film has been rediscovered, restored and put on DVD.
Exhibited as part of a program of synchronized sound films at the Paris Exhibition of 1900. Despite the novelty of sound (and stencil color in some of the films), the program was not financially successful.
