For three weeks, frustrated Nebraska authorities searched for Sydney Loofe, turning up no trace of the missing 24-year-old student from Lincoln. But on Monday, there was a sad development in the ongoing investigation.
Police announced Tuesday that a body they believe is Loofe’s was found the day before in rural Clay County. They expect forensic to positively identify the remains before the weekend.
No arrests have been made, but two people have been named “persons of interest” by police. Here are four things you should know about the Sydney Loofe case.

Our first look at season 2 of HBO’s acclaimed sci-fi western Westworld has now arrived, courtesy of the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. We’ve been hearing more and more about the production in recent weeks, like the casting of a few new characters as well as hints that the Hosts would be turning on their human creators in the upcoming episodes, so it’s great to finally have a trailer.
Set to the disturbingly cheerful yet totally fitting song choice of “I Gotta Be Me” by Sammy Davis Jr., the teaser shows a much different Westworld from the one seen at the end of the first season. If you recall, the season 1 finale saw the likes of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Maeve (Thandie Newton) achieve autonomy and break out of their conditioning and programming. Going by the trailer, it looks like Dolores will waste no time...

What do you think of Jimmy Fallon's new look? Since Memorial Day weekend, the Tonight Show host had been growing a beard. "You can't just start with the mustache. You have to have the beard and then shave that off and have the mustache," Fallon explained June 6. "Because this is going to be the summer of 'stache for me." Fallon's facial hair was finally thick enough by Thursday's show, so he invited Russell Cordeiro from Persons of Interest in Brooklyn to give him a makeover. As Cordeiro got to work, Fallon asked about varous mustache styles. "Everybody seemed to like the handlebar mustache so much. It's actually become very popular," Cordeiro said. "Whether it...

More than 35 years after a teenage girl came home to find her family brutally slain in their resort cabin, police say the cold case is heating up. Subscribe now to People, or pick up this week’s issue, on newsstands now, for more on this case.
The memory of the Keddie cabin murders that rocked his California community 35 years ago, when he was 16, has never left Plumas County Sheriff Greg Hagwood.
He personally knew the victims — all of whom were found bound, beaten or stabbed in April 1981. The summer before the slayings of Sue Sharp, 36; her son Johnny, 15; and Johnny’s 17-year-old friend Dana Wingate,...

Science fiction, man. I love it. But comic books make me want to hate it. I mean, I get that comic books aren’t really a literary medium. They can be, but they’re read mostly by people avoiding the commitment and sometimes challenge of a more rigorous, if still speculative, format, namely prose. Now I’m not going to pretend that prose Sf&F is always a step up from comics and, in fact, there’s pretty much an equal ratio of turds to gold (there’s some kind of law for this, I think). But so much more effort is put into the “science” part of science fiction in literature than it is in comics, and that seems to be an unfortunate result of the assumption (perhaps correctly) most comic book writers make that their audience isn’t interested in “harder” sci-fi or fantasy. But they try at it anyway sometimes,...

Six of the 10 homegrown feature-length films that will have their world premieres at the Melbourne International Film Festival (Miff) have been supported by the Miff Premiere Fund, including anthology drama The Turning and Anna Broinowski’s documentary Aim High In Creation!.
Australia’s oldest and largest film festival runs from July 25 to August 11, opening with Pedro Almodóvar’s I’m So Excited! and closing with Jc Chandor’s All Is Lost, starring Robert Redford.
The 17 programme strands include activism on film and new Arabic cinema, both of which artistic director Michelle Carey says “effortlessly suggested themselves”, plus such perennial favourites as the backbeat music program, accent on Asia, night shift, international panorama and documentaries.
The Turning is an adaptation of the country’s most popular Australian book of 17 short stories set in one locale, interconnected and written by acclaimed author Tim Winton. A different person has directed each. Some are first-timers including actors David Wenham and Mia Wasikowska...

Here we go, it's TV Thursday, one of the hottest nights for Television and a night that should keep your DVR working overtime. All of the networks have fantastic offerings on tap, so let's not waste anytime and get to What's on TV Tonight.
ABC's Last Resort has struggled in the ratings so far, but none the less is a critical darling that is most definitely worth your time and effort. Of course, it has some big competition at 8pm with new episodes of The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men airing on CBS, new 30 Rock and Up All Night on NBC, and The X-Factor airing on Fox and trying to ramp up its own ratings.
The competition is fierce at 9pm as well with new Grey's Anatomy at 9pm, Persons of Interest, The Office and Parks and Recreation, and Glee.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
With CBS leading in viewers by the widest margin of any network in 23 years, the network has little need to refresh its line-up this year - especially with last season's successes like "2 Broke Girls" and "Persons of Interest" adding to a solid run of hits in recent years.
Yet it's not resting on its laurels, ordering six new shows and shifting four existing shows around the schedule to shore up its weak points, in the process teaming its two biggest comedies "Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" on the one night.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't be seen include cop drama "The Widow Detective", various comedies about twenty...

Jon Favreau will direct, while Billy Burke of "Twilight" will star alongside David Lyons, Giancarlo Esposito, Anna Lise Phillips, Tim Guinee, Andrea Roth, Zak Orth and others. Cloverfield and Super 8 director Jj Abrams has teamed up with screenwriter Billy Ray for a mystery movie from Bad Robot for Paramount Pictures, reports Deadline. Details are scarce but the report says that the movie will be a mystery adventure.
Ray has penned the script for the re-visioning of Peter Pan starring Channing Tatum and is currently writing the screenplay for the 24 movie. Ray will also write and direct a remake of The Secret in their Eyes. As for Abrams, he’s got a lot of new shows on his plate. Persons of Interest and Alcatraz are all new shows from the mystery man and Fringe is on its fourth season.
So its yet another secret movie that will give us a twist and hopefully a fulfilling ending unlike Super 8. But whatever this project may be, it will have us scratching our heads when we see his name attached to the teaser trailer.

And the #1 Reason America Doesn’t Stand a Chance: An astounding 28.7 million of them tuned into the highly unfunny season premiere of Two And A Half Men.
Reason to Have Hope for the Future of America: Despite months of insisting his new show wasn’t simply a rip-off of his previous gig, Simon Cowell’s much-heralded X Factor was a bomb… at least when compared to the ratings garnered by American Idol.
Ratings Shocker: Despite being available on iTunes and Hulu before making its television debut, Fox’s New Girl drew a bigger audience than lead-in Glee, stunning naysayers and thrilling lovers of Zooey Deschanel everywhere.

Insert Credit endeavors to suss out where you should be allotting your video game allowance, sifting out a single title from many and crowning it as The One Game You Need to Get This Week. Lost’s most recognized actor, Terry O’Quinn, known for portraying John Locke, has joined a new pilot, returning him to ABC, and a drama about the forces of good versus evil. Hallelujah is an hourlong pilot from Desperate Housewives duo Marc Cherry and Sabrina Wind. The project — billed as a drama with musical elements — is set in the town of Hallelujah, Tenn., which is being torn apart by the forces of good and evil and whose fortunes change when a stranger (Law & Order‘s Jesse L. Martin) comes to town, bringing justice, peace and possibly restoring faith.
O’Quinn will play the show’s main villain, Del, a charming, yet wholly corrupt local millionaire who virtually owns the town. The cast also includes Cashmere Mafia’s Frances O’Connor and Terriers’ Donal Logue.

There's a bit of late-breaking pilot news at this hour, and it's exceptionally "Lost"-related.
"Persons of Interest," a pilot from J.J. Abrams and "The Dark Knight" co-writer Jonah Nolan, has landed at CBS. The drama follows a scientist and former CIA hitman who try to preemptively solve crimes before they occur. It joins "Alcatraz" as the second pilot from Abrams' Bad Robot to get an order this season.
