There are 46 flashbacks in the 88-minute-long movie, averaging one every 1.91 minutes.
Producer Danny Smith did the voice of Al Harrington, the "Wacky Waving Inflatable Tube Men" salesman. Smith, who can speak at a fast rate, recorded his lines in a few takes without any editing involved.
According to the DVD commentary there was an episode called "Queer as Stewie" where Stewie has a near-death experience and comes out of the closet, but when Fox canceled Family Guy in 2002, the idea was scrapped. Eventually, the idea became the first part of the movie, with the latter part of the plot removed. Also, "Stewie B. Goode" was originally going to be one episode, but the story was thought to be too long for half an hour and was changed into a DVD movie.
The entire sequence where Stewie attempts to beat the Griffins to the pool was originally meant to be in the season three episode, "Peter Griffin: Husband, Father...Brother?", but it was cut after the animatic stage. Three years later, they reused it in this feature.
Stu tells Lois and Peter that Stewie is from Nicaragua. In episode 1.3, Stewie runs away from "The Man in White" to the airport and asks for a plane ticket to Nicaragua.
