Mid-July doesn’t exactly constitute the dog days of summer, but for parents with kids to keep entertained it’s certainly close enough. Summer break is only half over for most kids across the United States, and that means parents have at least another month of kids with nothing but time on their hands.

Sonic is speeding into another streaming service. After debuting on Paramount+ in May, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is now available to stream for free on Amazon Prime Video for those with an Amazon Prime membership.
Ben Schwartz reprises his voice role as Sonic, while Idris Elba joins as the voice of Knuckles, a self-professed “echidna warrior” with a quill to pick with the bright blue hedgehog. Anytime a new Sonic the Hedgehog project gets announced, fans clamor to discuss what it should be influenced by. The classic Genesis games for their iconic look? The Dreamcast Sonic Adventure series for the story? Sonic’s various appearances in animation also get brought up, whether it is the wacky slapstick of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, the cult classic Sonic the Hedgehog (aka SatAM), the Sonic X anime, and more.
One series that the cast of the Sonic live-action movies wants to draw from more than any other though is Sonic Boom. Airing from 2014 to 2017 on Cartoon Network and Boomerang, the series stood apart from other entries in the Sonic franchise by functioning as a send-up of action-adventure stories with tons of fourth wall breaking jokes.

Get ready to cleanse yourself of the evil spirits that are in you because Knuckles the Echidna, the sometimes nemesis and sometimes pal of Sonic the Hedgehog, has his own live-action TV series in the works at Paramount+. Not only that but it appears to be a spin-off of the current Sonic the Hedgehog film series, with Idris Elba reprising the voice of Knuckles for the show. This is not only the first live-action Sonic TV series but also the first Sonic show in general that will be squarely focused on Knuckles.
This begs the question of what the series will be about. Much like many characters in the Sonic universe, Knuckles doesn’t have one clear origin and we aren’t even sure how Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will handle it (though based on the trailers we have some clues.) What will the series follow Knuckles doing? Then of course we have to wonder,...

It’s very exciting news for fans of Sega’s most popular character but buried in the press release is a detail that might make this the most way past cool Sonic series of all time. Even though he originally debuted as the world’s fastest hedgehog on the Sega Genesis, Sonic has since made his mark outside of video games. Following his 1991 self-titled outing, the blue blur ventured into comic books, animation and he’s set to make his Hollywood debut in just a few months’ time.
While the February 2020 film will be sure to make waves (in one way or another), Sonic has been noticeably absent from the small screen for some time. After all, over two years have gone by since Sonic Boom went off the air, and despite its positive reception from fans and critics alike, there’s been no news as to whether or not a new series is in development.
However, it looks like Sega – or rather, their director of animation – thinks that it’s time for another Sonic show. Speaking to ComicBook.com earlier this year, Yukio Kusumoto shed...

If you’re a subscribing member residing in the Us, here’s what you can look forward to binge-watching.

Jim Carrey could very well be entering the world of video games adaptation as he enters final talks to join Jeff Fowler’s Sonic The Hedgehog movie.
Carrey would play the role of Robotnik aka Doctor Eggman, a mad scientist and Sonic’s archenemy. Dr. Robotnik, in the games, plans to conquer the world in order to build his own Eggman Empire. While he has gone through several major and minor appearance changes throughout the series, his in-game designs retain several basic characteristics, such as his egg-shaped body, red-black-yellow clothing, pince-nez sunglasses, and large moustache. Robotnik possesses the ability to create machines and robots, including a wide variety of badniks. Notably, in early games, he has also served as a recurring boss, appearing in almost every level piloting one of his created vehicles.
First-time feature director Jeff Fowler takes the helm on the live action big screen feature. James Marsden...

Old games! Everyone loves old games. But you can't play old games without a classic games console to go with them. Shh. No. Don't mention ports or remakes or downloads. Go with me here.
There's something undeniably cool about having a retro gaming system on your shelf, and some of those old pixelated games are still very fun to play. Multiplayer ones are particularly great for social gatherings, if you're into that sort of thing.
So, if you'd like to bring some classic consoles back into your home (or maybe play one for the first time, if you're a young 'un), read on to find out what our chums at Amazon have to offer...

I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons. It was my favorite thing in the world when I was a little kid. As I've grown and have had kids of my own, I've witnessed the demise of Saturday morning cartoons. I think it's sad that my kids have never really had that experience of anticipation for Saturday morning. When I was a kid, I spent my whole week looking forward to Saturday morning! I'd wake up early and sit down in front of the TV with one of several sugary cereals from that era and watch my shows. Those were some of the best shows ever made. The fact that my kids can now watch their favorite shows any time they wan't takes that experience away from them.
Now Saturday morning cartoons are officially dead. They were killed off over the weekend when The CW’s Vortexx programming block, which included shows such as Cubix,...

Sonic the Hedgehog will be racing back to airwaves in 2014 with a new show on Cartoon Network. Tentatively titled Sonic Boom, the show will also air on the French children’s networks Canal J and Gulli in Europe.
Sonic Boom is being produced by Sega of America and French animation company Genao Productions. Similar to popular Cartoon Network shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show, Boom will consist of fifty-two, eleven minute episodes. As one would expect, the show focuses on Sonic and friends foiling the nefarious schemes of one Dr. Eggman, aka Dr. Robotnik.
No footage of the show has been released yet, but we do have the teaser image posted above. From what we can tell, Sonic Boom will focus on Tails, Sonic, Amy and what appears to be Knuckles, if he decided to start cultivating mass. No word yet on whether or not the likes of Espio the Chameleon,...

It's not easy being a Sonic fan. We all know his glory days are long behind us, that's just a fact of life. These days, it's one attempt after another at infusing new life into blue tinted hedgehog with 'tude. Often poorly conceived or poorly executed attempts.
Yet we all play each new installment, hopeful that some of its former glory has finally be recaptured. And unlike many other latter day installments, the most noticeable gimmick of "Sonic: Lost World" looked mighty interesting. First of all, it wasn't stupid, like him turning into a werewolf (sorry, werehog), like in "Sonic Unleashed."
Instead, it reminded all hardcore fans of an abandoned Sonic game from the 32-bit era, which many believe is when his legacy first began to crumble. You can catch upon on history here. But yeah, purely for the sake of history, "Lost World" look fairly intriguing,...

But with the upcoming 32/64 bit era, Sega knew that they had to enter the 3D platforming arena, so a three dimensional Sonic game was commissioned and put into production.
