When an estimated 1,000 international TV buyers descend on Los Angeles for the annual TV event known as the LA Screenings, they will see a contracted market still recovering from the twin Hollywood strikes of last year and, to a somewhat lesser extent, the pandemic.
It kicks off with the LA Screenings Independents, held May 15-17 for smaller studios and distributors at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, which are then followed by screenings at the major studios’ respective lots across May 18-22 where they present their latest shows. They may also host a variety of events for their clients during those days, which may include cocktail receptions and luncheons or dinners with talent and executives.
While stalled projects ramped up as soon as the strikes ended, some delays were inevitable. “A couple of months ago I was wondering if we were going to be entertaining [buyers],” says Lisa Kramer, president, International Content Licensing,...

Amid all the cancellation news concerning a 3-season television run of NCIS: Hawai’i, fans are more than ready to strike back to bring their favorite show back to the screens. Following the suit of So Help Me Todd’s fans, those who were keeping an eye on the NCIS’ spinoff all along created a whole new petition and even got some support from the show’ main cast.
Though some more previous similar attempts did work out for other series that were eventually brought back, the same happening to NCIS: Hawai’i remains a very implausible option, yet the creators still might come up with a plot twist that will be just fine for both spinoff and original show.

The Significant Impact of NCIS Hawaii on LGBTQ+ Representation The recent cancellation of NCIS: Hawaii marks not just the end of a television show, but also a setback in the progress of LGBTQ+ representation within the NCIS franchise. Vanessa Lachey made history with her role as Jane Tennant, being both the first woman and person of color to lead in the franchise. Her groundbreaking portrayal added a new layer of diversity and strength to the series. Gutted, confused, blindsided. Grateful, confident, beloved fans. In discussing this impact, Vanessa Lachey herself expressed a mix of emotions over the show’s abrupt end

CSI: Vegas lead Paula Newsome is now ready to open up about CBS’ decision to cancel the CSI franchise’s latest entry after just three seasons.
CBS cancelled both CSI: Vegas and its onetime lead-in So Help Me Todd in one fell swoop on April 20. Newsome, though active on social media, had yet to squarely address the sad news. But as part of an in-depth conversation with TVLine ahead of Sunday’s Season 3 (now series) finale, the actress shared how she got the news, and her immediate reaction.

NCIS: Hawai’i cancellation news back in April stirred the show’s whole fandom up, but things got even worse when the season 3 finale proved there was supposed to be another season before the series was scrapped for no reason.
Now some devoted fans took all the action into their own hands by following the suit of those who were raging about So Help Me Todd, another one of CBS’ unfairly canceled projects, and creating a petition that now counts almost 34.000 supporters (the initial goal is 35.000).
Such a proactive position didn’t go unnoticed at least for NCIS: Hawai’i’s main cast, and the leading actress was quick to react in so many ways.

Cancelations suck, and the 2024 season has been particularly brutal.
Long-running favorites such as Station 19, Blue Bloods, and Young Sheldon are going off the air, leaving fans brokenhearted -- and actors out of a steady gig.
Sometimes, actors land a new gig right away, and other times, they struggle to find new work. The cancellations were recently announced, so not everyone has had the opportunity to move on to a new project yet, but there are some interesting things in the works.
Having a Long-Running Series is a Double-Edged Sword
When actors land a gig that lasts for half a decade or more, they're guaranteed work for as long as the series lasts.
That allows them to become household names but also can make it harder for them to get new jobs in the future. For example, Henry Winkler was so associated with The Fonz that when Happy Days ended,...

It should be business as usual for the 2024-2025 season, with a mix of returning and new shows in the networks’ primetime lineup. As always, there are dramas, comedies, animated series, and unscripted shows filling the time slots. There are some changes. CBS once again has back-to-back NCIS shows, but it’s the new prequel Origins, taking over Hawai’i‘s timeslot following the spinoff’s cancellation. CBS is also going with what it knows works, with the Young Sheldon spinoff, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, taking over the franchise’s Thursday night slot. The network will also be airing the final episodes of Blue Bloods this fall. And Fox shocked fans by moving Family Guy to midseason for the first time since 2005. NCIS’ season 21 has finally arrived in full, proving that there will be some major changes in the upcoming season 22. The show’s latest episodes showed one of NCIS Special Agents Jessica Knight, portrayed by Katrina Law, accepting an offer to be promoted to React Chief Training Officer at Camp Pendleton, the position that will eventually and inevitably transfer her to the other side of the country.
Knight’s possible departure from the Major Case Response Team may come as a difficult thing to process for many as the character became fan-favorite throughout the three last seasons of the show. However, by leaving the team for good, Jessica seemingly paves the way for NCIS’ 19-year-old trend that proves that the series was ahead of its time all along.

An NCIS: Origins cast video was released to get potential viewers excited.
This new show from the NCISverse is taking some risks, as the producers hope fans want to see stories from younger versions of some important characters.
Flashback episodes of NCIS went over very well, with stories like when Leroy Jethro Gibbs first met Donald Mallard. They even had Mark Harmon’s son (Sean Harmon) play a younger version of Gibbs.
The idea to do flashbacks has been fleshed out into a full series, with episodes of NCIS: Origins debuting in Fall 2024.
The new show gets the 10/9c timeslot on Mondays that has been vacated by NCIS: Hawai’i. Unfortunately, the Vanessa Lachey NCIS spin-off was canceled by CBS.
NCIS Season 22 will air on Mondays at 9/8c in the fall, serving as the lead-in for this new prequel show.

Given some big changes that will affect the original show’s plot pretty soon, the franchise still has a chance to make it up to its big loss that hit a major milestone back in the day.
Amid the fans’ raging reaction about NCIS: Hawaii’s cancellation right before letting a big cliffhanger out for the public to reconcile with, this isn’t the only reason why the show is indeed such a big deal for its viewers and for the present-day television as well.
Ending its run after only three seasons the first one of which was launched in 2021, NCIS: Hawaii started an important trend of aspiring for same-sex relationships’ accurate representation on screen, the aspect that later on became a merit for the whole NCIS franchise.

Peak TV may be over, but even in a time of industrywide contraction, another era is forging ahead unabated: Welcome to Peak Franchise TV.
Spinoffs of successful series are almost as old as network TV itself — the first ones premiered in the late 1950s. The current state of the business, however, with its nearly boundless viewing options for both old and new programming, is uniquely set up to reward investment in building franchises. On the broadcast networks alone, the 2023-24 season will feature 21 scripted series that are part of a franchise, defined as a show that has spun off another series set in the same world or is itself a spinoff.
They range from Law & Order: Svu — the longest-running primetime drama in U.S. TV history — to Young Sheldon, the Big Bang Theory prequel that’s set to air its final episodes in May (and which itself will spawn another...

They range from Law & Order: Svu — the longest-running primetime drama in U.S. TV history — to Young Sheldon, the Big Bang Theory prequel that’s set to air its final episodes in May (and which itself will spawn another...

Prime Video has touted the viewer response to Fallout as its second-biggest series ever worldwide over 16 days of release. In the United States (and over a shorter time period), it’s No. 1.
Fallout recorded 2.9 billion minutes of viewing time in the U.S. over its first five days, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings for April 8-14. That’s far and away the best opening for a series on the Amazon-owned Prime Video, beating Reacher’s series premiere week in early 2022 (1.84 billion minutes) by more than a billion minutes.
The series also had more than double the second-place show on the list for the week: Bluey had 1.39 billion minutes of viewing in the week leading up to and including the release of its special episode “The Sign,” which premiered on April 14.

NCIS’ upcoming prequel centring on Mark Harmon's Leroy Jethro Gibbs is gradually piecing together as the show is getting its preps for the production. Coming under the name NCIS: Origins, the series will take the viewers back to 1991 showing Gibbs, this time portrayed by younger actor Austin Stowell, at the very start of his NCIS agent’s career.
While CBS is all excited to find a substitute for the canceled NCIS: Hawaii’s time slot, some fans don’t seem to be that enthusiastic after the show’s execs released its first promo image.
The NCIS: Origins’ image gives a first look at Stowell as young Gibbs, and though the actor seems to be a good fit for the show, something in there still doesn’t look quite right. Some fans were quick to point out that, surprisingly, it’s Stowell’s hairstyle that spoils the whole impression of the character’s younger version.

CBS’ police procedural thriller show NCIS has been having quite a good time on TV with the recent season 21 being aired and multiple spinoff series making their way to the show universe’s expansion.
Back in January NCIS’ prequel show called NCIS: Origins was officially greenlit for airing sometime in 2025; this time the show will be centring on Leroy Jethro Gibbs’s story that will take viewers back to 1991 when the character was about to kick his NCIS agent’s career off.
With the previous news that Austin Stowell was cast to portray young Gibbs in the upcoming prequel, some other major updates about the show’s ensemble didn’t take too long to arrive either.
According to Deadline’s reports, NCIS: Origins has officially added Patrick Fischler and Julian Black Antelope. The former has recently starred in Jeffrey Wright-led Oscar-winning black comedy drama American Fiction while the latter...

Fans were eagerly awaiting the third season of NCIS: Hawai’i, considered by many to be the best NCIS project, and when the show finally started airing, it ended right there: the series was canceled after the third season. Thus, Hawai’i became the NCIS project with the shortest run, which it obviously did not deserve.
Moreover, fans hoped that within a month of the cancellation news, the writers would have time to come up with a worthy ending that would conclude the arcs of all the characters. However, what fans saw in the final episode may have upset them even more than the cancellation itself – a big, fat cliffhanger.

Started back in 2021 as one more spinoff of CBS’ military police procedural show NCIS, NCIS: Hawaii didn’t last long on TV ending its run this year as the shocking news broke around a month ago.
The third and last season’s finale premiered on May 6 leaving most of the series’ fans even more bewildered about the whole cancellation news. Though it may have been expected, the show’s ending wasn’t really something that would wrap the entire story up, and the viewers are now raging even more about the unfair decision.
The news that NCIS: Hawaii was officially canceled started circulating two weeks prior to season 3 finale thus leaving fans quite reassured that the show wouldn’t have a decent conclusion to all the storylines anyway.

Plot: Five women participate in a hiking retreat but only four come out the other side. Federal agents Aaron Falk and Carmen Cooper head into the mountains hoping to find their informant still alive.
Review: We reviewed the Australian mystery drama The Dry a couple of years ago. We enjoyed Eric Bana’s first Australian film after moving to Hollywood and found director Robert Connolly’s adaptation of Jane Harper’s novel to be refreshing. That film told the story of a federal investigator who returns home to investigate the murder of a childhood friend, which bears a distinct connection to a crime he himself was accused of decades prior. Bana and Connolly have reunited for the second novel in the Aaron Falk trilogy, Force of Nature. Jessica Knight made a huge decision in the NCIS Season 21 finale, and it’s one that likely has fans wondering if cast member Katrina Law is leaving the CBS show for good.
In “Reef Madness,” NCIS head Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) approached Knight with a surprising offer. He wanted her as the head of the new NCIS React team at Camp Pendleton. But taking the job would likely mean moving to the West Coast and leaving behind the rest of the NCIS team, including her boyfriend Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).

NCIS is not afraid to lose characters, whether by them leaving or even dying. There is not a single main character left from the pilot, and only Sean Murray remains as Timothy McGee from the first season (his first appearance was on the seventh episode of Season 1). Now, another major character might be leaving.
Here is a look at what changes the NCIS season finale might bring to the show.
Could Katrina Law Leave NCIS?
Katrina Law might be leaving NCIS after this season’s finale. The Season 21 finale (“Reef Madness”) has some hints that Knight (Law) might leave the series by taking on a new job. The show has never shied away from characters leaving the show — often in shocking manners.
Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander) was a main character in the first season as she clashed with Jetrho Leroy Gibbs before joining the team and becoming a key member of his squad.

One of the biggest storylines for fans came with the growing relationship between Tony and Ziva. However, thanks to Cote de Pablo leaving the show, and then Michael Weatherly departing, this love story never had a satisfying ending for fans. Even when de Pablo returned, Weatherly was gone and fans were left wanting.
That will change with a Tony and Ziva NCIS spinoff series coming to Paramount+. Here is what you need to know.

The NCIS season finale ended on a big cliffhanger for Agent Jessica Knight (played by Katrina Law).
Much of the episode teased a terrible fate for Knight and Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole).
The duo was trapped in a ship that was destined to be sunk as an artificial reef. They had been locked inside by a murder suspect, and nobody knew their location.
Parker became seriously injured as the duo tried to find a way out, leading to Knight taking a swim through a dark passageway to find help.
Just before Knight drowned and Parker bled out, the rest of the team rescued them, ending that particular storyline. But that wasn’t the cliffhanger.
Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) had a job offer for Knight that would take her to Camp Pendleton – across the country from her current post.

Paramount’s Tony & Ziva NCIS spinoff is untitled no more. The two stars of the Europe-set series, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, got on Zoom to unveil the moniker of the offshoot Tuesday.
After referencing a couple of titles that had been floated, NCIS: Europe and NCIS: Trust No One, the duo announced that the official title of their new show will be NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
“It makes it really easy because the fans will know exactly what the show is. It’s about Tony and Ziva in Europe,” de Pablo said.
The action-packed spinoff, which has a 10-episode order, will follow Tony (Weatherly) and Ziva (de Pablo) as they find themselves on the run across the old continent.
Filming on the series — the second extension of the NCIS franchise beyond the U.S. after NCIS: Sydney — is slated to begin this summer in Budapest. John McNamara is the writer/showrunner.

Tiva is back—and the fan-favorite characters have gone international. Paramount+ has brought back Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo for an NCIS spinoff about Tony and Ziva, and until now, it has remained untitled. But that has changed. A video shared on social media featuring Weatherly and de Pablo has revealed the title. It begins with Weatherly asking, “What’s the name of your new TV series? Is it NCIS: Europe?” De Pablo says no. “NCIS: Trust No One,” he suggests. “No, even though that’s a really good one,” she says. He encourages her to tell fans the title, and she does: NCIS: Tony & Ziva. “It makes it really easy because the fans will know exactly what the show is. It’s about Tony and Ziva in Europe,” she continues. He shares they’ll be shooting it this summer. “I expect intrigue, romance, the background of Europe.
