"Derek Zoolander University" is the second of two short films that preceded Ben Stiller's "Zoolander" movie. Soon there will be a second movie as well. In this 4-minute short film here, he tells us basically why he is such a great model and how it can be useful for models watching this short film to adapt to his approach in terms of the model profession. I must say I found "Male Model", the first Zoolander short film, not too funny and same goes for this one here. The character is certainly special and kinda entertaining, but all the action and dialogs didn't do too much for me. Pity as I quite like Stiller and his acting (and makeup) is easily the best aspect about this one here. Cannot say it got me interested in watching the full feature film that followed. Not recommended.

This spot is hilarious.

Classic Ben Stiller humor through his amazingly developed character, Derek Zoolander. If you enjoyed the film, this clip is on the DVD and it should be required viewing. I laughed so hard I had to stop it so I could catch my breath. The clip is simply an advertisement for Derek Zoolander's new University for male modeling. It is done in a standard "campy" style, a la Sally Struthers' correspondence school bits, without the constant annoying presence of Sally Struthers. 'Derek Zoolander University' was shown at the 1997 VH1 Fashion Awards and is one of the two spots that were the predecessors of the movie 'Zoolander'.
