Marvel’s X-Men ‘97 has been receiving rave reviews ever since it began airing. The show is a revival of the popular ‘90s show X-Men: The Animated Series, with many of the original voice actors returning. The show was created by Beau DeMayo, who was fired from the series a few weeks before its airing.
While no proper reason has been given for his dismissal, DeMayo took to social media to address questions regarding the show and reveal trivia. He reportedly mentioned that the show was partly based on the first script he had ever written, which was a fan-fiction sequel to Hugh Jackman’s X-Men.

Janet Jackson and Drew Barrymore are looking back at their acting careers and revealing some iconic movies they passed on.
The singer made a surprise appearance on Friday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, and in a preview clip, Jackson shared which legendary superhero she almost played.
After being asked if she was supposed to star in The Matrix, she responded, “No.” Jackson added that she couldn’t remember the film’s name but knew who got the role when she turned it down.
“It was…this is horrible,” the Good Times alum said. “I can’t remember the film, but Halle Berry played Storm.” Barrymore exclaimed in response, “X-Men?”
“I couldn’t because I was just embarking on the Janet tour,” Jackson continued. “But I think that’s what you’re confusing it with. It wasn’t The Matrix.”

Famke Janssen is not sure what Marvel has planned for the X-Men saga but doesn’t shut the door on the idea of reprising her role of Jean Grey / Phoenix.
Janssen originated the X-Men role in the 2000 film and would go on to play the mutant in 2003’s X2 and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. The actress also made cameos in 2013’s The Wolverine and 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
“I don’t know. I mean, I didn’t expect to come back after dying as Jean Grey,” Janssen told ComicBook in an interview. “I came back as the Phoenix [The Last Stand], and I came back in flashback scenes in The Wolverine, and then in Days of Future Past.”

The latest trailer for "Deadpool & Wolverine" suggests the movie might be even more of a cameo-fest than we'd previously predicted.
Hugh Jackman is back as Logan, of course, and he's bringing leftover characters from the erstwhile 20th Century Fox's Marvel Universe. We already knew Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Pyro (Aaron Stanford), and Toad would be back. So will Wolverine's archenemy Sabretooth, perhaps finally giving Logan a chance at closure.
Around the 1:50 minute mark of the new trailer, you were probably focused on the decapitated head of a Giant Man variant (his rotting skull concealed within his ant-styled helmet). I'm much more curious about the characters standing beneath this makeshift base, who look to be familiar (mutant) faces from previous "X-Men" films: Yuriko Oyama/Lady Deathstrike from "X2" and Azazel from "X-Men: First Class."
Both are seen at too far a distance to determine if their previous actors...

The world went crazy with the recent trailer drop of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine. With some iconic throwbacks to past events in the MCU to bringing in characters from the X-Men franchise, the trailer has shown it all.
Alongside the thrills of the movie, a still from Deadpool & Wolverine also suggested the appearance of five X-Men characters in the film. With some actors allegedly reprising their roles while some X-Men characters are making their on-screen debut, here’s what we know about the characters who show up in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are two pretty popular names in the film industry. Having done some of the most successful movies in the last two decades, both actors have an amazing folio to their credit. And of course, playing two of the most beloved superheroes from Marvel Comics has only added to their storied career.
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds as Logan and Wolverine
When Hugh Jackman first joined the world of superheroes, he was a relatively unknown face. X-Men (2000) was his debut movie, which catapulted him to over night success. Ryan Reynolds on the other hand had been part of some pretty successful projects by the Deadpool (2016) graced our screens. Though, to be fair, he had already played Deadpool, or at least a version of him, before, in one of the X-Men movies – X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009).

Deadpool is back and more meta than ever, but this time he's bringing some serious backup. For the first time since Disney acquired rival studio 20th Century Fox (along with their entire catalogue of pre-existing IP), the upcoming "Deadpool & Wolverine" is now setting its sights on no less a prize than the Marvel Cinematic Universe ... and no less an icon than Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. It's the team-up movie that nobody saw coming, especially after 2017's "Logan" seemed to officially and definitively close the book on Jackman's portrayal of the character. The reaction to the newly released trailer for Marvel's sole theatrical release of 2024 only further proves that interest in this threequel among both fans and casual audiences alike remains at a fever pitch. But what about those who feel strongly that the beloved member of the X-Men ought to have stayed retired -- or perhaps undergone a recasting,...

When the first teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped, we all still thought it would be titled Deadpool 3 – and so, it largely held back on the Wolverine of it all, mainly reorienting us with Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With A Mouth as he prepares to make his MCU debut. But for the follow-up trailer, the Wolverine is firmly out of the bag – and therefore this foul-mouthed full look at the much-anticipated sequel is all about the friction that comes from buddying up the quip-tactic Wade Wilson with Hugh Jackman’s snarling, lonely Logan. The result looks to be a huge amount of fun. Watch the trailer here:

Marvel has unveiled a new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, its upcoming R-rated comic book epic starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as our titular, foul-mouthed heroes. The trailer is soundtracked by Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” and full of F-bombs — including this summer’s superhero catchphrase, “Lfg.”
Directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things), the film finds Deadpool (Reynolds) teaming up with a Wolverine (Jackman) — but not the Wolverine we’ve seen in past X-films. No, this one has apparently let his entire world down, which feels like a nod to the classic comics storyline Old Man Logan. And that beloved story gets referenced elsewhere in the trailer when it’s revealed that someone (Emma Corrin’s big bad Cassandra Nova?) is using a giant, dead Ant-Man as a base.
The shot of Ant-Man’s helmet opening also reveals appearances from Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu in X2: X-Men United) and...

It takes The Matrix about three minutes to become the coolest thing you’ve ever seen. That’s when Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) evades a cop by breaking his arm, punching his throat, and then freezing mid-air so the camera can whip around her before she unleashes a kick that sends him across the room. Three minutes. And everything changed.
But the most impressive part may be the fact that the amazing stuff doesn’t stop there. For the 117 minutes that follow, The Matrix directors Lana and Lilly Wachowski offer an improbable mix of kung fu action, Continental philosophy, and fin de siècle cool. It’s no wonder their movie became a hit in theaters and on video. Nor is it any wonder that so, so many movies and TV shows borrowed from The Matrix, at once cementing the original film’s legacy while also cheapening its effect. In immediate years...

Hasbro recently made several announcements regarding Disney-owned properties. While it’s not surprising to see new Star Wars Black Series and Marvel Legends figures come to market, it was surprising that the company would continue with some other retro-inspired lines.
Toy Biz had a shakey start in the late 1980s with a lackluster Batman ’89 toy line but eventually gained its stride with an excellent X-Men action figure series. Hasbro has been reviving the old ToyBiz style of packaging and IPs, one of which is the Fox Kids Iron Man animated series.
I was pretty sure this line was going to be discontinued. It was impossible to find, and aside from the proton cannon set that lets you recreate Iron Man’s Marvel Vs Capcom ultimate attack, it felt underwhelming.

As random and arbitrary as Netflix's Top 10 can appear, it starts to become more predictable upon closer inspection. Like the media rental stores of ancient times (which were essentially the streaming services of their epoch), new Netflix originals inevitably rank high before dwindling off in the same way that Blockbusters would initially stock their shelves with roughly 10,000 copies of the latest tentpole. Along those same lines, viewers frequently play catchup right before a show returns by marathoning its previous season(s), which is how a cult Syfy comedy series like "Resident Alien" ends up charting seemingly out of the blue.
Then there are the under-the-radar titles that find their way onto Netflix only to be discovered anew by its users, much like a customer perusing the aisles of their local video rental shop and stumbling upon some previously ignored movie featuring one of their favorite actors. So it is...

Saying that James Marsden rose to fame as Cyclops (Scott Summers) after he starred in Fox’s 2000 flick adaptation of the mutant team, X-Men, won’t be wrong. Playing the mutant Scott Summers, who shoots intense energy beams from his eyes, Marsden made his X-Men team debut alongside Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, and Halle Berry’s Storm.
Despite being a prominent character in Marvel Comics, Cyclops’ role in the X-Men films was nevertheless greatly diminished. And he seemed so unimportant that the third installment of the series, X-Men: The Last Stand, could have done without him.

Sir Ian McKellen’s portrayal of X-Men villain Magneto is simply too iconic. Rousing speech before a battle might be Magneto’s way of doing things. The first X-Men film was iconic on so many different levels. Not only did it bring life to some of the most beloved characters from Marvel comics, but also laid the foundations for what we now know as the superhero genre. Many of us were excited about the prospect of The New Mutants a few years ago. The sales pitch of an “X-Men horror movie” sounded like a match made in heaven. As often happens, the film that was released was far more of a pillow fight than the cage match I’d hoped for.
But as we excitedly embrace the kid in us with the release of X-Men ’97 on Disney+, I couldn’t help but imagine a more adult side of that universe. What if the X-Men franchise embraced the opportunity to lean into the horror genre? I’m talking about the body horror of its mutants, the cruelness of its villains, and the potential for superhumanly violent finishers that would make Mortal Kombat blush. With all that in mind, I took a look through the original X-Men films on a horror scavenger hunt and found some pretty cool trinkets along the way.

McKellen who portrayed these two iconic roles masterfully, became hugely popular with audiences and critics worldwide. But the veteran was apprehensive that the towering physicality of Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto as depicted in the X-Men comics was completely different to his appearance. He then requested a wardrobe change to ensure that he fit the bill.

Brian Peck and Dan Schneider’s careers are undoubtedly going up in flames after the revelations made in Investigation Discovery’s docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. The four-part docuseries, featuring cast members, writers, and crew from Schneider’s popular Nickelodeon shows, sheds light on the toxic environment on the sets of children’s TV shows.

By now, it is clear that behind the camera flashes, things are not quite as shiny as they may seem. In 2003, voice coach and actor Peck was convicted of child s*xual abuse. At the time, the identity of the minor was not revealed. In Quiet on Set, the victim revealed his identity. Further, he also shed light on a major detail regarding the case.

If you haven’t taken the leap to bundle Disney+ and Hulu, it might be time. Streaming is only getting more expensive and competitive, and the enticing bundle (which also includes ESPN) might be a version of cable TV, but it’s also just cost efficient. Disney+ and Hulu are so intertwined that their monthly listing updates come in the same email — and as such, we decided to compile them here for you in the same list.
Whether you have Disney+ or Hulu, or both (and the IndieWire staff has weighed on our favorites), each has its benefits. Disney has the family-friendly titles, the Star Wars and Marvel (new episodes of “The Bad Batch” and “X-Men: 97” continue through April), while Hulu is the place to catch FX originals and network episodes. Both streamers have the rights to distribute National Geographic titles, which are well worth exploring along with the rest of the library.

The MCU is currently recalibrating and making significant changes to rectify the various mistakes made in Phase 4 and the current Phase 5 projects. The multiverse saga is all leading up to the epic crossover events of Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars. The upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine is set to give a needed jolt to the MCU as they inch closer to these two epic event movies.
Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to set up the events of Avengers: Secret Wars
With the upcoming Deadpool film having a multiversal narrative, it is sure to have some big X-Men cameos and callbacks to the history of Marvel films. Additionally, the film’s events are also expected to set up an important narrative thread for Secret Wars, which will completely reboot the MCU. An underutilized character from the X-Men films may be the key for all this to happen.

The X-Men film franchise has undeniably captivated a vast audience, earning a dedicated following among fans worldwide. Despite its popularity, the series has encountered numerous trials and tribulations along the way. Nonetheless, within Fox’s Mutants franchise lies a treasure trove of commendable elements.

However, recent developments surrounding the upcoming animated series X-Men ’97 have stirred controversy among fans. In particular, the decision to alter the character Morph’s sexuality to non-binary has sparked intense debate.

To say that all eyes are on Wade Wilson in 2024 is an understatement. With most superhero movies struggling to make a dent at the box office last year, studios will next look to the performance of Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine as a referendum on the state of the genre. Fortunately, Ryan Reynolds‘ latest turn as the Merc with a Mouth looks absolutely insane in the first trailer, which premiered during Super Bowl Lviii.
As the trailer reveals, Deadpool is stepping into the multiverse with the help of Matthew McFayden’s mysterious Marvel character and the Tva from Loki. But he’ll have some other big-name allies, too.
Watch the trailer below:
We already knew Hugh Jackman was coming out of superhero retirement to reprise his role as Wolverine for the ninth time, this time in the comic book accurate yellow suit that will also delight the X-Men: The Animated Series fans in the audience.

The character’s first official foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool 3 is arriving in theaters on July 26, 2024, and the Super Bowl teaser trailer has arrived tonight.
It’s officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine, and you can watch the trailer below!
This first look at the hotly anticipated upcoming movie mostly focuses on ushering Deadpool into the MCU, with a small tease for Wolverine’s arrival in the Deadpool franchise.
Hugh Jackman will be back as Wolverine one more time in Deadpool & Wolverine, reprising the role he had allegedly played for the final time in Logan back in 2017.
He’s of course starring alongside Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.
Marvel Studios hired sisters Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin to write Deadpool & Wolverine, with Shawn Levy (Free Guy) seated in the director’s chair.
The future of the franchise was unclear in the wake of Disney acquiring Fox, where the previous two movies had been made.

Ever since Disney bought 21st Century Fox back in 2019, comic book fans have been waiting for the pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe Fox characters to fully merge with the proper MCU. There have been hints since then — the post-credits cameo in The Marvels or the Quicksilver misdirect in WandaVision — but Deadpool 3 marks the first full-on incursion of the Fcu with the MCU.
Also marking Marvel’s first R-rated feature film, Deadpool 3 sees Ryan Reynold back as the Merc with a Mouth, this time set up as — in his own words — “Marvel Jesus.” As the trailer establishes, a happy Wade Wilson is recruited by the Time Variance Authority for a mission that could make him “a hero among heroes.”

It’s hard to explain exactly what inspired this list. Maybe we just wanted to rave some more about Pixar. Maybe watching Avatar again and the new sequel Avatar: The Way of Water boggled our minds. Whatever it was, it’s done, and we can’t take it back (the delete key is broken). It is kind of strange that there are so many blue movie characters. If we wanted to do, say, Best Red Characters in Movies, it would just be five pictures of Hellboy and five pictures of Darth Maul. Scottish actor Alan Cumming says hosting the US version of The Traitors makes him feel like a “James Bond villain.”
Cumming, who previously appeared in 1995 Bond film GoldenEye, told the BBC that the show’s producers asked him to “camp it up” and portray a flamboyant character within the show. Cumming said his strong Scottish accent is “me playing Moira Rose from Schitt’s Creek playing Alan Cumming.”
He said he feels like a James Bond villain when he watches on hidden screens the interaction between ‘the Faithfuls’ and ‘the Traitors’ on the hit reality TV show, and that he even volunteered to bring his own dog to set so he could be filmed stroking her menacingly, channeling 007’s famous adversary Ernst Blofeld with his cat. Bryan Singer's "X2: X-Men United" may remain, even at this late date, one of the better superhero films out there. In "X2," Halle Berry reprised her role as Ororo Munroe, better known by her superheroine name Storm. She can control the weather with her mind, perhaps making her the most powerful being on Earth, even if the movies don't posit her as such. In "X2," Storm spends a good deal of time tracking down and befriending a mysterious teleporting blue-skinned mutant named Kurt (Alan Cumming), also known as Nightcrawler. The two characters bond and they have a few intimate moments together.
This was an improvement for Storm over the 2000 "X-Men" film, wherein she ... didn't do much. Storm was a supporting character in "X-Men" who only used her superpowers a few times. Berry was fine, but was given very little to work with. Storm, despite being one of the more...

At the beginning of Bryan Singer's 2003 superhero film "X2: X-Men United," the title teens are enjoying a school field trip to the local Natural History museum. The kids don't get out too often, as they attend a special school for superpowered mutants, a class of people hated by the populace at large. While they are sitting in the museum cafeteria, a pair of bullies approach Pyro (Aaron Stanford), Iceman (Shawn Shamore), and Rogue (Anna Paquin) asking Pyro for the use of his cigarette lighter. Pyro denies them, and they snatch his Zippo out of his hands, lighting up immediately. Pyro, possessing the superpower to expand fires, winks his eye and causes the bully's lit cigarette to explode, setting his jacket on fire. Iceman, who can fire ice blasts from his hands, extinguishes the fire. Showing off their powers in public is verboten, as they run the risk of being...

Be there when it happens! So declared the final trailer for The Marvels, a 90-second spot that contains almost as many images of past MCU glories as it does shots from the actual movie it claims to promote. The trailer only slightly tips its hand toward the one thing that could be deemed universe-altering, a mid-credit sequence in which Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) awakens in another universe, tended to by a variant of her mother Maria, now in the Binary persona, and Dr. Henry McCoy aka Beast (Kelsey Grammer) of the X-Men.
The X-Men have been a long time coming to the MCU—ever since Disney bought 20th Century Fox, which among other things brought the X-Men characters back under the Marvel umbrella after the film rights had been licensed to Fox in the 1990s. And yet, every onscreen hint and...

Talking to Jimmy Fallon on the latest episode of his ‘The Tonight Show’, he told the late night talk show host: “I thought it was the new ‘James Bond’ film. So I said, ‘Oh, finally they’re getting me in a ‘James Bond movie’. I thought, ‘Yes, of course’.”
