Rosario Dawson and Danny Boyle put their recent break-up behind them as they posed together on the red carpet at the Trance premiere in London last night (March 19).
Dawson, 33, looked glamorous in a red sequinned gown by British designer Jenny Packham as she placed an arm around director Boyle, whom she reportedly split with earlier this month.
The pair, who met on the set of the heist thriller, were joined by co-stars James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Tuppence Middleton.
Other guests included Inbetweeners star James Buckley and wife Clair Meek, currently expecting their second child together.
The film, co-written by Joe Ahearne and John Hodge, is released on March 27 in the UK and April 5 in the Us.

We’ve got just over a week to wait for Danny Boyle’s Trance, and all that we’ve seen so far has our interest piqued for the psychological crime-thriller.
James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel, and Rosario Dawson take the lead here, making up an impressive leading trio. And after catching the first TV spot, MSN have debuted a new featurette, taking us behind the scenes of Boyle’s return behind the camera.
A fine art auctioneer mixed up with a gang joins forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur the stakes rise faster than anyone could have anticipated.
Starring alongside McAvoy, Cassel, and Dawson will be Tuppence Middleton, Danny Sapani, Lee Nicholas Harris, and Wahab Sheikh.
Boyle is directing from a script co-written by Joe Ahearne (Apparitions) and John Hodge (Trainspotting), partly inspired by Ahearne’s 2001 TV movie of the same name.

Danny Boyle’s Trance is pretty much guaranteed to be awesome, and earns its place and then some amongst our must-see movies of the month.
The psychological crime-thriller stars James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel, and Rosario Dawson as the leading trio, and that’s definitely a cast we’re looking forward to seeing.
The latest red-band trailer debuted last month, giving us a brilliant new look at the film. And now Fox have released the first slightly more work-friendly TV spot ahead of its release in the Us in a few weeks’ time.

Disney has spent the last few years re-imagining or remaking the best fairy tales. After all, if people love the story, why won’t they want to see it again? From Alice and Wonderland to the recent Oz The Great And Powerful, these films have proven that they can be quite successful (at least in terms of box office figures), so it looks like this trend is here to stay. The next classic that Disney is looking to re-imagine is Beauty And The Beast, or as the new film may be called, The Beast.
Trance writer Joe Ahearne is currently in talks with Disney to reinvent the franchise and the plan is to make the new film live-action and likely 3D.
Keep in mind, with a name like The Beast and a writer like Ahearne, the film may end up looking a little different from the sweet, heart-warming picture above.

It’s a tale as old as time: A revisionist fairy tale blows up at the box office (this time, it’s Oz the Great and Powerful, which made over $80 million this past weekend), and suddenly all the studios want in on creating the next big live-action “fairy tale.” (In this case, “fairy tale” means any popular children’s story).
Disney is looking to develop Beauty and the Beast into a live-action film, possibly to be written by Joe Ahearne (Trance), according to a Deadline report. The studio’s 1991 animated movie is a beloved classic, and was the first animated...

Fresh on the heels of the large opening weekend for Sam Raimi’s fantasy flick Oz the Great and Powerful, Disney is now tackling a live-action re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast. The studio giant is ready to put a new spin on another classic story. Therefore, Trance screenwriter Joe Ahearne has been tapped to pen the script for the project to be titled The Beast. A classic fairy tale from 18th century France has been told time and again on screens both big and small, and recently, 2011s Beastly offered a modern take on the story, as well as the CW’s recently launched ‘Beauty and...

Riding on the box office success of the James Franco-led "Oz: The Great and Powerful," Disney has plans for another adaptation of a childhood favorite, Deadline.com reports.
Disney is reportedly in talks to reinterpret the classic 1991 animated "Beauty and the Beast" as a live-action film called "The Beast."
Deadline reports that Joe Ahearne ("Trance") is in negotiations to write the script for "The Beast" and the film will likely screen in 3D.
A number of childhood reinterpretations have hit the box office as of late. Recent successes include "Oz: The Great and Powerful" and 2010's "Alice in Wonderland." Just in its first weekend, "Oz" brought in close to $80 million, while "Alice" reached a lifetime domestic gross of $334 million. However, others have not been so lucky. Recent releases "Jack the Giant Slayer" and "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" have struggled at the box office. Since its release in January,...

According to Deadline Hollywood, Disney is attempting to double-down on its classics. The studio is looking to create a new version of Beauty and the Beast with writer Joe Ahearne (Trance, director of several Doctor Who episodes). The goal is to make it live-action and in 3D ala Alice in Wonderland and Oz the Great and Powerful. Those names are notable not just because they represent the model for what Disney is doing here, but also because Disney is maybe the only studio who has figured out how to make fairy tales work on such a massive scale. Still, the question remains as to whether The Beast is a good idea because it steps on its own toes. Of course, maybe their re-release of the animated version was just a litmus test for going forward with this project, but while Disney’s previous successes told new stories in familiar universes, it...

Beauty and the Beast: Following the success of its live-action Alice in Wonderland and now its Oz prequel (and because two other productions beat the studio to Snow White), Disney has picked its next fantasy property to rework: Beauty and the Beast. The studio, which also has a live-action Cinderella in the works, has hired Joe Ahearne, one of the writers behind Danny Boyle's upcoming Trance, to script the movie, which is titled The Beast and will (obviously) be in 3D. Title-wise, it makes a nice counterpoint to the Guillermo del Toro-planned version called Beauty. Anyone else think Johnny Depp would make a great French candelabra? Anyone? The dramatic death of Jack The Giant Slayer (especially after the tepid performance of Snow White And The Huntsman and Mirror Mirror) would seem to have spelled an end to the trend of dark fairy-tale reimaginings—in the boring real world. In the magical make-believe world of movie studios, such setbacks are just the tragic backstory to be overcome by a plucky hero, preferably in 3-D, which is why Disney is forging ahead with a new live-action, 3-D, dark reimagining of Beauty And The Beast called The Beast, from Trance screenwriter Joe Ahearne. Here's a strange web of interconnected news. Just at the end of last month we learned that Emma Watson was in talks for the title role in a live-action version of Disney's famous fairytale Cinderella. However, Variety reports that she is no longer taking the role. The move did seem surprising since Watson was said to be part of a new take on Beauty and the Beast with Guillermo del Toro producing. In a strange twist, there's news that Disney is working on their own live-action version of the familiar tale with they turned into the first animated Best Picture nominee in 1991. Sounds like they want to beat del Toro to the punch. Deadline has word that Disney has tapped writer Joe Ahearne, the British writer who worked on Danny Boyle's new thriller Trance, to write a film called The Beast. The title alone seems to throw the fairytale nature of the story aside,...

Fairy tales are the hottest thing in Hollywood these days. Disney is dominating the box office with "Oz the Great and Powerful," and now the studio is throwing yet another one on the to-do pile. In addition to making moves on an "Oz" sequel, Disney is in the beginning stages of revamping "Beauty and the Beast" for an audience thirsty for a slightly twisted take on the classic story. According to Deadline, the studio is reportedly interested in screenwriter Joe Ahearne for "The Beast," as it's being called. In addition to penning the trippy script to Danny Boyle's upcoming sci-fi flick, "Trance," Ahearne has plenty of TV experience; he's written and directed a number of "Dr. Who" episodes, as well as the spooky BBC show "Apparitions." It's not confirmed, but industry folks are guessing the film will be in 3D like "Oz" and Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland,...

Well, this occurrence was probably inevitable, but given the $150 million worldwide haul last weekend for "Oz The Great And Powerful," it likely made some decisions in the boardroom a lot easier. So, following "Alice In Wonderland" and 'Oz,' with the Angelina Jolie starring "Maleficent" on the way, and "Cinderella" looking to get in front of cameras this fall (though still searching for a princess), Disney is now tackling a live action (and probably 3D) reimagining of "Beauty And The Beast." Obviously. There are not many details at this point, except that it will be penned by "Trance" writer Joe Ahearne, and it will be titled "The Beast." So yeah, we're figuring some kind of origin story thing or whatever. Of course, the the 1991 animated movie is an Oscar-winning classic, beloved by fans worldwide, so in Disney's eyes, it probably only makes sense to tap into that market and turn...

After the success of "Oz The Great and Powerful," Disney decided to re-imagine another popular property, "Beauty and the Beast." The studio just hired Joe Ahearne (Trance) to write a script for a new live-action version of the story. Disney is calling the film "The Beast," and since Ahearne was chosen, many are assuming that the studio is aiming for much darker take. No word if this will be another prequel, like "Oz." "Beauty and the Beast" is a French fairy tale from the 18th century. Just recently, Vanessa Hudgens starred in "Beastly," which is a modern version of the property. The CW then launched a "Beauty and the Beast" TV series. And Guillermo Del Toro is developing his own live-action film that has Emma Watson attached to star.

A live action Beauty And The Beast is in the works at Disney, with a one-time Doctor Who director penning the script...
The sizeable opening for Oz The Great And Powerful over the weekend, with nearly $150m in the bank worldwide already, marks the second time that Disney has scored very big with what's effectively a live action fairy story.
Tim Burton's take on Alice In Wonderland took over $1bn in cinemas a couple of years back, and the studio has committed to more projects of a similar ilk. Malificent, based around the villain from Sleeping Beauty, is already well in the works, with a release next March (and Angelina Jolie leading the cast). After that, Kenneth Branagh is set to direct a live action take on Cinderella (which Emma Watson has turned down), and rumours persist that an Alice In Wonderland 2 is in the works.

Disney knows Guillermo del Toro is making a "darker, beautiful, hopelessly romantic but Gothic" Beauty and the Beast for Warner Bros., and Disney does not care. The studio has hired Joe Ahearne, writer of Danny Boyle's new film Trance, to script a Beast-centric take on the fairy tale. The Beast "will be live action, and most certainly 3-D," writes Deadline. Add it to the list; fairy-tale movies will soon be the new superhero movies.

Deadline reports that Disney are moving ahead with The Beast, a live action retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. The studio has chosen Joe Ahearne to pen the script, with the most recent credit on his resume being the brilliant looking Trance from director Danny Boyle. The site adds that the movie will more than likely be 3D (hardly a surprise), while it will apparently be produced by Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with Disney's LouAnne Brickhouse steering the project. This remake joins Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella. The last we heard about that project was the news that Emma Watson is in talks to star. Stay tuned for further details!

Exclusive: Hot on the heels of another splashy revisionist fairy tale opening in Oz The Great and Powerful, Disney is in talks with UK-based writer Joe Ahearne to reinvent its Beauty And The Beast franchise. Ahearne most recently scripted Trance, the film that Danny Boyle directed and then completed between his production of the Opening Ceremonies of the last Summer Olympics in London. This will be live action, and most certainly 3D. Disney is calling this film The Beast, and considering the subject matter of Trance – an art auctioneer is pummeled so badly by his criminal cohorts that a hypnotherapist is needed to coax out the memories of where he hid a priceless painting — indicates that this revisionist take on Beauty and the Beast could be a bit on the dark side. The film will be produced by Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman and Disney’s LouAnne Brickhouse will steer the project.

Trance will be released on March 27 in the UK, and April 5 in the Us.

Check out Rosario Dawson in the new character poster for Danny Boyle's Trance thriller, also starring James McAvoy and Vincent Cassel. This joins the recent poster for McAvoy for the film which opens in theaters via Fox Searchlight Pictures on April 5th, 2013. Danny Boyle (127 Hours, Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire, The Beach) directs from the script by Joe Ahearne and John Hodge. In Trance, Fine art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy), in league with a gang led by underworld boss Franck (Cassel), plots the audacious theft of a masterpiece by Goya from a major public auction. When Simon double-crosses the gang during the robbery, Franck retaliates violently and knocks him unconscious. In the aftermath of the heist, Simon sticks stubbornly - and perhaps shrewdly - to his claim that the violent trauma has left him with no memory of where he stashed the artwork.

We saw an excellent first trailer earlier in the month. And that’s since been followed with the first two teaser posters in a new set, with some great new taglines, adding to the intrigue surrounding the film.
Those first teasers gave us a look at James McAvoy and Rosario Dawson, and now Orange have (somewhat colour-appropriately) debuted the third in the set, with Vincent Cassel buried beneath the circles.

New posters are in for Danny Boyle's Trance distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures, starring starring James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson. With Boyle at the helm, re-collaborating with screenwriter John Hodge after the successes of Trainspotting and Shallow Grave, this looks like a must-see. Joe Ahearne also scripts alongside Hodge. We've yet to get a U.S. release date for this, but keep checking back for updates on Upcoming Movies' info page. Boyle of course directed the excellent Slumdog Millionaire as well as The Beach, 28 Week's Later, Millions and 127 Hours among others. Also in the cast are Matt Cross, Wahab Sheikh and Danny Sapani. The film's produced by Christian Colson and Boyle.

Danny Boyle makes his eagerly-anticipated return to the big screen this spring with Trance, following the time off he took to direct the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympics last year.
The New Year brought with it a rather brilliant first trailer, giving us a great first full look at the film.
And following it up was the first teaser poster, which launched a new set earlier in the week. Now Yahoo Movies have given us the second in the set, which sees the face of Rosario Dawson buried beneath the circles.

Danny Boyle’s Trance is fast becoming one of the most anticipated films of the spring. Coming off the back of directing the Opening Ceremony of last summer’s Olympics, we can’t wait to see what Boyle brings to the table on his return to the big screen.
We got a handful of great first-look images late last year. And the New Year brought with it the awesome first trailer. And now the first teaser poster has debuted over at Total Film, giving us the first in a new set of three.

New poster for Danny Boyle's Trance, starring James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel. The first poster is in for the crime thriller which reteams director Danny Boyle wiith Shallow Grave and Trainspotting scribe John Hodge. Also written by Joe Ahearne, Trance follows fine art auctioneer Simon (McAvoy), in league with a gang led by underworld boss Franck (Cassel), who plots the audacious theft of a masterpiece by Goya from a major public auction.

Danny Boyle’s Trance is a film we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. The writer-director boarded the project back in May last year, following on from the Oscar-nominated 127 Hours.
Since then, Boyle has been involved with a staged production of Frankenstein, as well as directing the Opening Ceremony to this summer’s Olympics.
But with both now firmly behind him, we have Trance back in centre position. The release date has recently been set for March 2013 here in the UK, and now USA Today have given us the first images from the film.

Danny Boyle’s visually inclined film “Trance” is a crime drama starring Rosario Dawson and James McAvoy, as well as a menacing Vincent Cassel. This is apparently Boyle’s first film where a woman is his main lead, and he calls it an “emotionally charged” noir film. Plus, it’ll probably look really, really cool with a great soundtrack. Get your first official looks at the film below, including a behind-the-scenes shot with the Boylester himself doing what he does. The film is a remake of a 2001 British movie of the same name by writer/director Joe Ahearne. That one co-starred Susannah Harker of “Ultraviolet” fame. Suggested MPAA Rating: R for sexual content, graphic nudity, violence, some grisly images, and language, the official synopsis of the film goes as follows:
Trance, directed by Oscar®-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) and co-written by Oscar®-nominated long term collaborator John Hodge (Shallow Grave, Trainspotting) is a seductive and enigmatic thriller starring James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson.

Here are some cool (and bloody) set photos from the upcoming Trance movie. If you’re James McAvoy fan, then I’m sure you’re going to love these images. This thriller comes from director Danny Boyle and beside McAvoy, also stars Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson.
In case you’re not so familiar with this project, I’m here to inform you that it’s actually a remake of British TV drama of the same name, directed by Joe Ahearne.
It’s a story about an art heist that somehow goes wrong, and as we previously reported has a dark, sexy, hard-edged tone.
McAvoy plays character named Simon, who suffers a blow to the head during the operation, and subsequently suffers from amnesia. Nothing to be worried about, except one little thing – he’s the only one who knows where the painting is hidden.
When his team questions the validity of his claims,...

Getting Danny Boyle to direct an adaptation of your previous work is something most screenwriters would be ecstatic over, but there might be something more excited about having an original pitch bought by a major studio. This is the situation for Trance co-writer Joe Ahearne; as Deadline says, he’s sold a supernatural thriller to Warner Bros., which Dan Lin is producing through Lin Pictures.
The original concept came from Jon Silk, and the writer “expanded it” for a proposition to the studio; seems like that worked. This is the second project he has set up with them, the first of which is a rewrite of Rawson Thurber‘s Elf Quest. Of course, not knowing much of anything about the thriller at the moment only makes me more excited, since that’s the kind of person I am. It could be something of a test for the scribe, since he...

Exclusive: Hot off co-writing Trance for director Danny Boyle, Joe Ahearne has sold an untitled supernatural thriller pitch to Warner Bros. Dan Lin will produce under his Lin Pictures banner. Lin’s veep Jon Silk came up with an idea they are keeping under wraps and Ahearne expanded it before they pitched it to the studio and came away with a deal. Silk will be co-producer and WB’s Matt Cherniss is overseeing it. It’s the British writer’s second deal with Warner Bros, which recently hired him to rewrite Elf Quest for Rawson Thurber to direct. Thurber wrote the original draft. Ahearne will write Elf Quest and start the new pitch at the same time. Trance, which stars James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson, is currently in production in London. Boyle will complete the shoot, then put it down to focus on directing the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

We won’t see it until spring 2013, but Danny Boyle has just started production on his art heist thriller Trance. Digital Spy caught him with his main (bloodied) actor James McAvoy and long-time cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle on the streets of London. Based on Joe Ahearne‘s 2001 British thriller of the same name, the modestly-budgeted drama is being described in the “dark, sexy, hard-edged tone of Boyle films like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.” Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel make up the rest of the cast, but could another major star be joining?

Vincent Cassel has said that he hopes to work with Danny Boyle on the director's upcoming movie Trance. The Black Swan actor is reportedly in talks with Boyle to play James McAvoy's accomplice in the art heist movie. Of the rumours, Cassel told Digital Spy: "What I can tell you is that I think Danny Boyle is wonderful and that I really hope it's going to happen." However, he added: "But the internet is going faster than some brains sometimes!" The Joe Ahearne and John Hodge penned-project has been given a tentative release date of March 2013. Asked how it felt to win (more)...

Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson are in negotiations to fill the other lead spots, alongside James McAvoy, in Danny Boyle’s follow-up to this year’s fantastic 127 Hours, Deadline report.
Boyle will be directing the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony, so production on Trance will start this autumn in London until he switches projects in January, and then he’ll return to the film once the Olympics are over with an eye to release in March 2013.
The script for Trance has been penned by Joe Ahearne, nominated for a BAFTA for his work directing Doctor Who, and past frequent Boyle collaborator, John Hodge, who has worked with Boyle writing Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, A Life Less Ordinary, and The Beach. The pair haven’t worked on a project together in over a decade, so it will be great to see them back together on Trance, which is thought will have the same...

Since we last heard about Danny Boyle art heist thriller Trance, Scarlett Johannson was set up to play the lead female alongside James McAvoy. However that seems unlikely, but when one door closes another opens. Rosario Dawson is now set to play the female lead and she won’t be alone. Vincent Cassel will also be joining the cast in a supporting role. But as great as this cast is, we won’t be seeing this project for a while as Boyle will be busy working on the Opening Ceremonies for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

The casting process for Danny Boyle‘s Trance has been a Rube Goldberg-style puzzle that, frankly, doesn’t make sense. Michael Fassbender was reported as starring in the lead role, but we then heard that his X-Men: First Class co-star, James McAvoy, was taking that role. And then he… wasn’t. After this little misunderstanding, Fassbender left due to scheduling issues, and Colin Firth was then mentioned as taking his part. The King’s Speech Oscar winner soon dropped it, and Vincent Cassel was then rumored to take this twice-abandoned role. Scarlett Johansson has even been mentioned as the female lead, Elizabeth, but that may have just changed.
Are you still with me?
Deadline now informs us that Rosario Dawson and Cassel are about to sign on to the thriller, which has previously been described as having the “dark, sexy, hard-edged tone of Boyle films like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.

Exclusive: Rosario Dawson has won the hotly contested female lead in the Danny Boyle-directed Fox Searchlight drama Trance. She is poised to join James McAvoy and Vincent Cassel, who are both in negotiations to play the male leads in a film that will start production in September. McAvoy's in talks to play the inside man in an art heist that goes wrong. He runs afoul of an accomplice (Cassel), and Dawson will play a woman who develops an unusual relationship with both men in a thriller that is as moderately budget and edgy as Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. Joe Ahearne and John Hodge wrote the script. Deadline was first to reveal Trance in early May, when Boyle decided to work in a follow-up to 127 Hours even as he prepares to direct the opening ceremonies of next summer's Olympics in London. He's re-teaming with frequent producing collaborator Christian Colson. They...

It was reported last month that ahead of his Olympic duties next year Danny Boyle had signed on to direct on heist-gone-up-the-swanny thriller Trance with recent X-Men alumni James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender taking up leading roles. The film is a remake of Joe Ahearne’s 2001 TV movie starring Neil Pearson, Susannah Harker and Philip Davis about a robbery, a fortune and amnesia.
It appears that this casting isn’t to be as Twitch have provided an interesting update on the film, claiming that Fassbender is out of the project due to scheduling difficulties. Currently ensconced in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus as a golden blonde rent-boy of sorts (so he says, slight spoilers etc) the next film Fassbender has going on is Good Vibrations with Robert Sheenan and Steve Coogan, and it is either this film or his time with Scott that is preventing him joining Danny Boyle if the rumours is true.
