Revived by Something Weird on Vol. 126 of its Dragon Art Theatre series, DAY DREAMER is the pits. With a negative cost I would estimate at about 400 bucks, it merely answers the question: how little can you deliver to come up with a porn movie?
First savings is by casting merely two porn performers in total, plus a 3rd bit part for dubbed dialog scenes, and shoot MOS. Our hero George falls asleep on the couch reading Penthouse magazine and dreams of three vignettes with the same woman, whom he humps. His appearance changes (once having him with shoulder length hair) and she dons three ugly wigs, perhaps to try and fool the audience into believing there's a bigger cast. SLEUTH, it ain't.
The third thesp has a dual role -his nagging wife and a woman who calls him up in Scene 2 when he imagines himself a precinct cop named O'Reilly, complaining, binoculars in hand, of her neighbors making a show of themselves fornicating with their window curtains open.
Besides saving on sound recording and other niceties, like sets, this junker feature plenty of pirated music, including Herbie Mann's hit "Comin' Home Baby", Walter/Wendy Carlos' familiar theme from "A Clockwork Orange," the Moody Blues' inevitable "Tuesday Afternoon" and another XXX crowd-pleaser, Steely Dan's infectious "Do It Again". All this, for an investment of only 400 smackers!
