Here’s a question: is this the new wave of films we’re expecting? Have we lost all sense of creativity that now we have to look towards terrible events as a means to create a film with emotional appeal? Be it Patriots Day or Bastille Day from last year alone, to countless other films released in the past decade– it’s a manipulation of the emotions that warrants questioning. Granted, this is completely different from historical films like All The President’s Men or Zodiac, but then the question is, is it any different than films from World War II or Vietnam, like Pearl Harbor or Apocalypse Now?
Anyhow. .. .
Arnold Schwarzenegger is definitely pulling it in with that emotional appeal. He lost his wife all the while is busy attempting to fight a white guy in power who lost his old job.
No this isn’t the real world.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been watching Celebrity Apprentice because its him… Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Get To The Choppah”!!! in Predator will forever go down as one those great iconic Hollywood one-liners. His role as a grieving father in the Zombie apocalypse film Maggie showed a different side to the one-time Governor of California.
Now comes his turn as a father and husband bent on vengeance.
In cinemas and On-Demand on April 7th, watch the new trailer for Aftermath.
Two strangers’ lives become inextricably bound together after a devastating plane crash. Aftermath is inspired by the remarkable true story of the events that unfolded when a Russian passenger plane collided with a cargo plane over Germany in 2002. 71 people die.
Aftermath tells a story of guilt and revenge after an air traffic controller’s (Scoot McNairy) error causes the death of a construction foreman’s (Arnold Schwarzenegger) wife and daughter.

Just when Arnold Schwarzenegger broke away from tradition to offer a heartfelt and emotionally raw performance in last year’s Maggie, the Austrian Oak has been typecast into a role that wouldn’t look out of place on his résumé from 20 years ago.
For Elliott Lester’s (Blitz, Love is the Drug) old-school revenge thriller 478, Schwarzenegger plays a man hellbent for revenge after discovering that the plane crash that killed his doting wife and child was caused by human error – specifically, the human error of one very unfortunate air traffic controller. And so, tossing common sense out the window, Schwarzenegger’s lumbering widower sets about avenging the death of his nearest and dearest. Surely there’s more to it than that, no?
No word yet on who will portray the hapless air traffic controller, though Variety brings word today that Kevin Zegers has boarded the thriller in an unspecified role.

So there's this action movie starring Jason Statham. Shocker, right? This particular one is called Blitz, and we've already seen a couple [1] trailers [2] to show off the British action thriller. It looks like it's going straight to DVD in the Us, which is a bit strange given that Jason Statham action movies seem to earn enough coin to make a theatrical release worthwhile. But I'm not a company beancounter, so what do I know? Jason Statham plays a cop who is targeting a serial killer who is targeting cops. It's like an Ouroboros of cops and killers. For me, the attraction here is Paddy Considine, playing the openly gay partner to Statham's homophobic tough guy. Until I can see his directorial debut, Tyrannosaur, I'll be happy to watch him in anything. (More happy to watch him in Hot Fuzz and Red Road, but why split hairs?) Check out the trailer below,...

The last couple of Jason Statham movies have been pretty disappointing, maybe his next film Blitz will make up for it. A new red-band trailer has been released for his next film Blitz, but like most of Statham's movies the trailers are awesome, but the films end up being a let down.
The film was written by Nathan Parker (Moon) and co-stars Paddy Considine and Aidan Gillen. The story follows a crazy ass cop whose sets out on a journey to take down a serial killer whose targeting police officers.
Here's the synopsis:
The south-east London police squad are suffering collective burnout: with tragic deaths, excessive habits, uncontrollable anger and the wrong kind of friendships, the team never had it so bad. When a serial killer takes his show on the road, things get progressively worse. Nicknamed ‘The Blitz,’ a vicious murderer is aiming for tabloid glory by killing cops.

Who's ready for their biannual Jason Statham-obliterates-everyone fix? Hopefully you're shouting, "Me, me, me!" because after The Mechanic, Blitz fills his quota for 2011. (Or at least it would, had he not turned out to be such an overachiever [1].) The premise is beautiful in its simplicity: A sociopathic cop is dispatched to take down a serial killer who's targeting police officers. The result, likewise, appears to be everything one would hope: Brutal, visceral, and cheerfully demented. We already bore witness to the international trailer [2] for the film, but now there's a red band trailer, indulging a greater emphasis on C-words and facial-stomping. Check out the trailer after the break. This is more or less an abbreviated teaser, condensing most of what we saw in the earlier trailer into one frenzied, ferocious 30-second block. I actually prefer it. It's high on energy, low on spoilers, and conveys all that's appealing about...

Jason Statham plays the tough guy again in Lionsgate's action thriller "Blitz". With red band attached, second trailer of the pic shows nudity, foul language and merciless killing of police officers. "A word of advice, if you're gonna pick the wrong fight, at least pick the right weapon," Statham's Brant said in the trailer.

The Beaver
Opens: March 23rd 2011
Cast: Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, Anton Yelchin, Jennifer Lawrence
Director: Jodie Foster
Summary: A depressed toy company CEO with a failed marriage starts to wear a beaver puppet on his hand as a form of therapy, much to the initial bemusement of his family. He soon begins talking only through the character.
Analysis: This time last year, excitement was quietly brewing for "The Beaver". Gibson's drunken tirade a few years before hand wasn't forgotten, but enough time had passed that this looked to be the year of a potential comeback for the actor.
The thriller remake "Edge of Darkness" and this were his first on screen roles in ten years, 'Beaver' is also his "Maverick" co-star Foster's return to the director's chair fifteen years after her last feature. The script topped the 2008 Black List and scored rave reviews for its blend of sophisticated humor and sad pathos,...

Jason Statham is on glowering, violent form in the first trailer for the British action thriller, Blitz…
There are two things that model-turned-hardman actor Jason Statham excels at: scowling, and beating people to within an inch of their lives.
While more low-key than The Expendables or Crank: High Voltage, Statham gets to do plenty of scowling and fighting in the forthcoming British thriller, Blitz. Working like a cross between David Fincher’s Seven and an episode of EastEnders, Blitz casts Statham as a tough Londoner on the trail of a sociopathic cop killer (who has a strange habit of wearing lime green novelty shades).
David Morrissey, Paddy Considine, Aidan Gillan and Luke Evans also star, and the script was adapted, from a Ken Bruen novel of the same name, by Nathan Parker, the writer behind Duncan Jones’ brilliant Moon.

Is there an actor working today who is more consistent than Jason Statham? I don't think so. Of course, by "consistent", I don't necessarily mean that all of his movies are good, just that you always know exactly what you're going to get from them. His latest film Blitz is a British crime thriller based on the book by Ken Bruen about a serial killer who is targeting police officers. Statham plays a rebel Dirty Harry-type cop who is dispatched to catch the perp. The movie is directed by Elliott Lester (Love is the Drug) and also co-stars Paddy Considine (In America, The Red Riding Trilogy) as a gay cop who is assigned to be Statham's partner on the job. With one movie currently in theaters, two more completed and awaiting release, and three others in post-production, Jason Statham is easily one of the most in-demand actors working today.
In his latest movie, Blitz, Statham steps away from the shirtless action he has become famous for to play a hard-nosed detective on the hunt for a serial killer in a thriller based on the novel of the same name by Irish crime writer Ken Bruen. Directed by Elliott Lester (Love is the Drug), Blitz is "in the can" and awaiting a release date. The first still image from the movie has been released and, unfortunately, it's a pretty mundane walking-and-talking shot of Statham and co-star Paddy Considine.
Here's the official synopsis of the movie:

The subject of drug use isn’t a novelty in cinema, having been dealt with as far back as The Man with the Golden Arm in 1955, but Addicted to Her Love distinguishes itself with a harsh, unrelenting realism. Director Elliot Lester makes good use of his talented young cast to tell the bleak story of what happens when directionless youth fights ennui with narcotics. Originally titled Love is the Drug (which is actually a better title for this film) it explores the phenomenon of undisciplined, unsupervised, upper-class youth with too much time and money on their hands, similar to 2002’s Better Luck Tomorrow did, but combines it with the stark reality of drug addiction, like a suburban version of Panic in Needle Park.
