Complicated relationships make for good drama, but Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 2 was a significant dip in quality from Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 1.
Giving Tal-Rho a redemption arc would never end with the brothers playing nice.
Clark's pursuit of answers made him make a hasty decision that could have had stratospheric effects on the rest of the world.
Not enough time had passed to give Tal-Rho a redemption arc, so of course, nothing good would come of the brothers working together.
Tal-Rho did pull off quite the feat by tricking his brother, but at least we ended "The Ties That Bind" with the former villain still locked up.
I don't mind Tal-Rho moving toward the good side, but there has to be a logical build-up to it. A few good deeds do not discount his actions.
When you add in the fact that Tal-Rho attacked his nephew, well, it's...

This Dexter: New Blood review contains spoilers.
Dexter: New Blood Episode 10
“Open your eyes and look at what you’ve done!”
When it was announced that Showtime would be reviving Dexter after almost a decade, I was more than dubious. One of the first prestige dramas that I truly loved, I jumped at the chance to review the series when I started writing for Den of Geek in 2012. Unfortunately, the seasons that I covered could be described as disappointing at best. The show was responsible for many sins. Between clearly telegraphed twists, interesting threads stopped dead in their tracks for no apparent reason, and inconsistent characterization, the series’ chief issue was the esteem that the writers had for their lead character long after he deserved any.
On more than one occasion, writers of Dexter would compare their darling to a superhero, and many fans of the series, including in this site’s comment section,...

“Sins Of The Father” is an excellent finale for New Blood, and for Dexter as a series. It’s more than just a decent finale by the standards Dexter set for itself during its endless creative trough. “Father” is a very strong hour of television from a show that offers them up inconsistently and very rarely does so at…...

Spoiler Alert: This story includes details from the finale of Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood.
It’s truly the end of an era as the fate of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) has been sealed in the final episode of Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood. And whether or not fans like the ending this time around, there’s no going back.
“Dexter Morgan is dead,” series showrunner Clyde Phillips confirmed to Deadline in a conversation that will run immediately following this recap.
Nearly a decade after America’s favorite fictional serial killer disappeared into a Miami hurricane in the original series finale, in New Blood it is revealed that Dexter was alive and well living in Iron Lake, NY under the alias Jim Lindsay.
He had completely changed his life and left every part of his old life behind, until right around the time someone from his past found him.

To be a fan of Hong Kong cinema is to experience déjà vu on a regular basis. If there is one hit movie in the region, then inevitably there will be numerous follow ups, some done with good intent, others simply to cash in. “Infernal Affairs” was onε such hit and so followed a procession of cop thrillers in quick succession. Never one to miss out on a trend, Wong Jing teamed up with Marko Mak to create what was one of the better examples of the genre with “Colour of the Truth”

“It’s snowing! It’s snowing!” The man gleefully exclaiming this meteorological fact is watching tiny flakes begin to fall on the ground. Seconds before, he was telling the group of folks milling around the room to gather ’round (“Gen-tle-men, congregate!”) with all the authority of a general assembling the troops. Then he glances outside a large picture window, and suddenly, this rugged-looking seventysomething turns into a 10-year-old kid. “Last night I was sitting outside ’til nine o’clock, sitting on my front porch by a fire. Now it’s snowing.

CBS Television Studios, Rideback and Thinking Hat are reteaming on a second year of the Rideback/Thinking Hat Campfire writers room, which in its inaugural year developed and sold two projects to CBS. The current worldwide pandemic has made it difficult for filmmakers to, well, make films. But it hasn’t stopped them altogether and has often made people become even more creative than normal. Sins of the Father is part of a soon-to-be-released Micro Killersanthology movie. Micro Killers is a selection of short movies made for £200 or less.
Sins of the Father was actually made for £6. Yep, you read that right. It was written during lockdown and as soon as government guidelines permitted production began. Filmed with a cast of one and a crew of three all with social distancing, it’s impressive it even got made! It follows a priest who wakes up in a graveyard but has seemingly no way of leaving. His life of sin seems to have finally caught up with him.

Sins of the Father: Stein Mines Elitism in Absurd Melodrama
“Does any daughter every really know her father?” is one of several wilting lines of dialogue in Inheritance which could have served as a double-sided tagline. The sophomore feature from director Vaughn Stein written by first time scribe Matthew Kennedy is a soap opera balanced on the troubled dynasty of wealthy family, whose demise seems imminent after the unexpected death of a tyrannical patriarch.
An interesting array of notable names, several of whom are glaringly miscast, enhances the campy qualities of this over-baked yarn which features a few too many turns of the screw which are neither surprising nor compelling.…...

The ties that bind often embarrass or even shame, a near-universal reality that writer Jeannette Walls explored, unforgettably, through the extreme example of her childhood. Her book The Glass Castle — plainspoken, vivid and unputdownable — is equal parts loving tribute and pained confessional, resisting sentimentalism at every turn. Director Destin Daniel Cretton mostly manages to do the same, though his concessions to the expectation for big movie moments deliver occasionally strained results.

A dead rat, a dead aide, and an uncooperative congresswoman all took part in NCIS Season 14 Episode 9, "Pay to Play." With pretty much the entire main cast fawning all over Congresswoman Flemming, I couldn't help but feel that they were just trying way, way too hard to set up a relationship between her and Vance.
The fact that this episode was clearly aired out of order did nothing to help, either.
The out-of-order airing was made pretty apparent when Clayton Reeves showed up at the beginning of the episode, having just arrived from England to join the NCIS International Desk. Something he had already done in NCIS Season 14 Episode 8, "Enemy Combatant."
In fact, in my review of that episode I even questioned if I'd missed Reeves joining NCIS! Turns out, I had! It just hadn't aired yet. While not a huge problem, it was noticeable and, indeed, distracting.

What would you do to protect your family? That’s the question asked by Telltale Games in the gripping first teaser for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier.
Kicking off with a two-part premiere entitled “The Ties That Bind,” up above we’re introduced to a character named Javier. According to Telltale, throughout the course of season 3 we’ll “witness how the beginning of the zombie plague affected him and his family before we move forward in time to years later, where he encounters a very familiar face…” That familiar face is, of course, Clementine, the hardened survivor who’s been evading the undead since the very beginning.
Here’s the official teaser for A New Frontier, courtesy of Telltale:
“When family is all you have left… how far will you go to protect it? Four years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos.

I bought it for myself, but this was my Christmas present, arriving in the mail from England on Christmas Eve: a fifteen-cd set containing five epic Springsteen concerts from the legendary Darkness on the Edge of Town tour. When the Cleveland deejay who emceed the show for Wmms-fm introduced the band by saying, "Round for round, pound for pound, there ain’t no finer band around," he wasn't just rhyming, he was telling the truth.
Why, you ask, did this set come from England? Well, it's an unauthorized collection of bootlegs, but in Europe, radio recordings are public domain, so this is actually a legal release.
The word went out through the fan network I ordered it on Amazon U.K. before the release date. Perhaps Bruce doesn't get a penny out of this, but I've seen it suggested that writers' royalties would still have to be paid. Either way,...

Paddy Considine feels that he could improve his performance in The Suspicions of Mr Whicher.
The actor and director first starred as the titular character in 2011's 'The Murder at Road Hill House', before returning last year in 'The Murder in Angel Lane'.
Ahead of the series' third instalment, Considine told Digital Spy and other members of the press that he didn't do the character "justice" in the first film.
He said: "I've never really done a recurring character before. It's been quite interesting for me, because I felt that when the second film came about, it was a really good opportunity to play him how I originally intended.
"It was like I was being given another chance to do the job right, because in the first film, I always felt like I never did it justice. It was such a wonderful book [by Kate Summerscale], and I just don't feel like I did it justice.

He said: "For some reason there's a really strange thing around some actors about mainstream television.
"Look at the great actors that have come through television in this current generation, Benedict Cumberbatch [for example], what's the big fear with everybody? You're an actor, a job's a job.
"Believe me, years ago, I had this thing where I'd just done In America, and I was at that period where I was like, 'Right, I'm not doing anything unless I'm in love with it. I'm waiting for the right project to come along', and I didn't work for nearly two years.

Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall will include a spoiler from the second series in an upcoming novel adaptation.
Author Erin Kelly has revealed that a small "clue" about the next series will feature in her book, which will be based on the ITV crime drama's first run.
''About three days before we went to press, Chris put in one tiny little clue about something that happens in series two," Kelly told Radio Times.
''He asked me to add it in, literally just as we had the proof all laid out ready to go to press.
''It's something only the die-hards will pick up on but there's one line quite early on in the book that won't make sense to anybody. It's something very playful that he did right at the last minute.''
Kelly said that she is looking forward to seeing if anyone notices the spoiler, saying: 'It doesn't give...

Sonny Finally remembers he’s a Kiriakis. The ties that bind … will hopefully have Nick hogtied and tossed back in the river.
Note – Will was on for a few scenes yesterday, where he learned that Gabi was modeling again, and Nick was behind it. Ej convinced him to let it play out, and Nick would dig his own grave.
And one more time, because it never gets old.
Jj is all fumbling and stumbling talking to his new dream girl. Well, I guess I can stop calling her Not Theresa 2, because her name is Paige. Because she’s … easy to read. Boom.
Nick is at the apartment with Gabi, and he croaks out “You’re so special, blah blah blah, and I would love to spend the rest of my life with you, etc.” Suddenly a voice speaks up from the doorway “Oh … My … God.” It’s Sonny, and he looks absolutely horrified!

Thursday, November 1st and Friday Nov 2nd during the 2012 American Film Market for its third year in a row, DreamAgo, in partnership with Hamilton International, the renowned Swiss watch company, will host "Hamilton Helps DreamAgo Connect". Known for its annual Plume & Pellicule screenwriting workshop held annually in Sierre, Switzerland and for the development, support and promotion of films that make a difference, the program has 3 key phases.
First phase is a speed dating-style pitch session designed to introduce selected screenwriters, who benefitted from DreamAgo's screenwriting lab in Switzerland, to well-known producers and distributors. Screenwriters in attendance will have 10 minutes with a producer to present their project before moving on to the next producer and starting again. Among the producers participating are Linda Obst (Hope Floats, Sleepless In Seattle, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days), Golan Ramras (One Missed Call, The Incredible Hulk), Kelley Feldsott Reynolds (The Flyboys, The Unsaid, Five Fingers), Sukee Chew (Jesus Henry Christ, Fireflies In The Garden), Christina Piovesan (Red Lights, The Whistleblower, Amreeka), Paula Mazanedo-Schmit (VP Film Finances Inc.), David Miller (Amal Sidarth, My Foolish Heart) and Vanessa Adkins (Unthinkable, A Late Quartet).
Second, the program offers the opportunity for any WGA writer to propose a feature project and try to win a six weeks Residency in Sierre (Switzerland), all costs covered. Among the more than 250 pitches submitted, DreamAgo & the Residence Ruffieux will select 15 projects and each of the writers will be given the opportunity to pitch it in person for 10 minutes. The lucky winner will be revealed during a brunch at the Swiss Consulate.
Third, DreamAgo will present a panel, in partnership with The Writers Guild of America, the topic this year: How to Preserve Your Vision When Those Around You Won't Leave It Alone? (Hint: An International Production Might Be Your Solution), on Friday, November 2nd. Panelists confirmed for this event include Barry Navidi (Producer, The Merchant Of Venice, Wild Salome), Sydney Levine (Creator of Sydney's Buzz a Network Blog on Indiewire, Founder of Film Finders), Vince Fischer (International Agent, Creator of the International Eci Agency), and Neil Landau (Writer, Tad The Lost Explorer).
Writer Howard Rodman (Joe Gould'S Secret, Savage Grace) will serve as moderator.
Additionally, DreamAgo will also have a part in the celebrated Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards that pay tribute to the off-screen talents. The 6th edition will take place in Hollywood on October 28, just prior to the start of Afm. DreamAgo, in collaboration with Hamilton, has selected Zoe Kazan to receive the Best Screenwriter Award for Ruby Sparks. The award will be presented by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the filmmaking duo behind Little Miss Sunshine.

We have a look into the future of ABC’s Revenge, specifically the November 4th episode, titled “Illusion”. Some stunning picks from ABC here, especially, I think, of Ashley Madekwe’s Ashley Davenport, though Emily VanCamp is shining as well, as is veteran actress Madeleine Stowe, the icy Victoria Grayson. Speaking of Victoria, the gallery below focuses on her and Conrad’s posh vow renewal.
There seems to me to be a lotsof lurking going on the background of these pictures, often by multiple significant players. Last week we found out that Victoria’s mother is coming to the Hamptons, played by Adrienne Barbeau, and that it won’t be too difficult to find out where Victoria learned her trade.

I'm going to be badass this episode.
It seems that Being Human's writers also thought it was time to close a few of the storylines that have polluted the show's recent episodes, because "The Ties That Bind" cleaned house. It was a big bounce back for a series that has been struggling with extraneous characters and tangential plots that dragged the show away from its core. But we'll forgive all that because Werewolves Versus Vampires.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 3, Episode 13 of The CW's The Vampire Diaries, entitled, "Bringing Out the Dead."
Are you still breathing? Because I'm not so sure that I've regained full use of my lungs yet. Bravo, Joseph Morgan. That was one of the most compelling performances in the history of The Vampire Diaries and one of my favorite episodes ever.
It was like a scene out of Julius Caesar, watching Klaus fall at the hands of those he thought he could trust most: his family. It was an incredible scene, watching each Original inflict their own sense of revenge on their hybrid brother. And yet even though they were justified in their anger, I couldn't quite bear the thought of knowing how much pain Klaus was really in.

The CW has just released a new clip from Next Week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, “Bringing Out The Dead”.
In the clip below, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is lecturing Stefan (Paul Wesley) on why the two Salvatores need to attend a meeting with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies).
In the last episode of Tvd, “The Ties that Bind”, Damon removed the dagger from Elijah’s body. In Damon’s mind, it was a strategic move. After all Klaus didn’t want the dagger removed. So anything Klaus is against should be good for Mystic Falls, right?
I’m glad to see Elijah back and I am anxious for a full on Originals reunion with Rebekah (Claire Holt). However, it remains to be seen whether Damon made a good decision by removing the dagger. Although there is bitterness between the Original brothers, Elijah and Klaus are still family.

Vampire Diaries brass Julie Plec and Caroline Dries reflect on the last episode, “The Ties That Bind”, talking the most recent doings of Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and the rest of your Mystic Falls favorites, talking coffins, Elena’s ruffled feathers and Katerina Graham’s trek.
Boomtron is not only here to make sure you don’t miss out on current and previous week chatter, but we also (more) frequently keep your head up to the future, having already brought you promo images featuring Paul Wesley and Nina in “Dangerous Liaisons”, the February 9th episode of The Vampire Diaries’ third season. The next episode, however, is “Bringing Out the Dead” (February 2nd), after a current two week break for the show.

I don't know if you guys remember last week, but if you're ever in the mood, just kick up your feet and really cast your memory back to last Thursday-ish. That was when a truly great episode of The Vampire Diaries aired. In a third season that has been basically On Fire, that episode in particular has to be a high point.
I'm not sure if anybody looked at this week's episode synopsis, noted that it was Bonnie-centric, and was like, "Yep, that's gonna be a classic." Because this week's episode, "The Ties That Bind," was was not a classic. It was about medium-okay. But saying a Season 3 episode is only medium-okay is like saying, "We only hit... More >>...

A pair of family reunions dominated the latest episode of The Vampire Diaries, while Stefan showed some heart and Alaric displayed some stupidity.
Which scene stood out the most? How excited are we to welcome back Elijah? Join Round Table panelists Matt Richenthal, Steve Marsi, Dan Forcella and Eric Hochberger now as they break down "The Ties That Bind..."
-------------------------------------------
What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Matt: Abby texting to Bonnie while the random hybrid dude stood nearby. She made Leonardo DiCaprio in The Descendants look like a text messaging amateur!
Steve: As Matt sums up very well in his review, there's almost too much going on from which to choose, or know what to invest ourselves in at this point. I was probably most interested in Tyler's storyline, though. Can Caroline's dad really fix him, and will he be the key to bringing down Klaus if so?...

The Vampire Diaries may be taking a week off next Thursday, but at least last night's "The Ties That Bind" gave fans something juicy to ponder until we wait for the show's February 2 return:
Elijah. Oh, yes, he's back.
What sort of impact will this Original have on "Bringing Out the Dead?" It's unclear, but the official CW synopsis teases a dinner party thrown by Klaus on the episode, one that will reveal more family secrets and then get interrupted by "an unexpected guest."
Elsewhere, look for Sheriff Forbes to deliver disturbing news to Alaric and Elena; while Stefan seeks help from Bonnie and Abby; and Caroline does all she can to prevent a tragedy from taking place.
