Chennai, June 17: Tamil filmmaker K. Balachander has lauded the efforts of the makers of "Thillu Mullu", a remake of his own film of the same name starring superstar Rajinikanth, saying the new version is apt for the audiences of this generation.
The 1981 "Thillu Mullu" was an official remake of Hindi classic "Golmaal" featuring Amol Palekar.
"I'm happy the makers have taken efforts and made my film into a commercial entertainer. The remake is completely new to me but director Badri has made it in such a way that it's apt for the current generation of cinemagoers," said Balachander in a statement.
The remake features Shiva, Isha Talwar and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. It's the story of the protagonist who lands.

Film: "Thillu Mullu"; Cast: Shiva, Isha Talwar, Prakash Raj, Kovai Sarla, Soori, Sathyan, Monisha, Manobala, Blaaze and Santhanam; Director: Badri; Rating: **1/2 - Half-hearted tribute to the original.
Based on the 1981 Tamil comedy "Thillu Mullu", comes the new version of the film with the same name that appears to be a half-hearted tribute to the original.
One of the glaring differences between the two versions is the treatment of comedy. While in the original it was sensible and funny, it is loud and commercial in the remake. Despite a few rib-tickling moments between Shiva and Prakash Raj, "Thillu Mullu" suffers due.

That Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn are thick buddies is known to one and all. Ajay starred in Sanjay's home production Rascals while Sanjay too has been seen in Ajay's home productions like All The Best and the forthcoming Son Of Sardaar. Now taking this friendship ahead, Sanjay Dutt has acquired the remake rights of Telugu super-hit Badri and plans to make a Hindi remake of the film with Ajay Devgn in the lead. Sanju apparently feels Ajay would be apt for the role which was originally essayed by Pawan Kalyan. And even though the film will be made under Sanjay Dutt Productions, Sanju Baba will be giving Ajay a free hand in deciding the cast, director etc. Moreover, Sanju Baba has also said that he would like to have Ajay in all the films made under his banner. Looks like Dutt wants to make amends for the fiasco called Rascals.
