Jumbo The Elephant
Jumbo (1897)
This film is being shown by The Library of Congress under the title JUMBO THE TRAINED ELEPHANT. It was filmed around the era, which IMDb lists as the release year but what the LOC is showing runs over four minutes, which would be extremely rare for the time. I'm not sure if this was a collection of items or perhaps more than one movie put into one or what.
The film starts off with a man doing a quick trick with the elephant and then we get a fade to black. Once the image is back up with see another trainer doing all sorts of tricks with the elephant including a jump rope with a dog and various "follow the leader" type tricks. For the most part this is an entertaining film and especially if you like harmless elephant tricks. There's certainly nothing graphic here or anything some might get offended by.
