Moments of Insanity
kbtoys10020 December 2021
A late 90s actioner starring Andrew Divoff and Tim Thomerson? Sounds awesome!

Unfortunately there is a reason Crossfire is almost unheard of. The plot is terrorists trying to blow up the statue of liberty while a deaf child is inside and only rogue action hero Pike (who just happens to be visiting the statue) can save her.

Divoff naturally plays the lead terrorist. Thomerson has a cameo at a desk. Lead man Pike is played rather lacklusterly by Mitchell Cox who appeared in a few previous low budget flicks. This would be his last movie.

Action scenes are done very poorly. Most are some fist fights or very quick gunfights. The final battle consists of Divoff and Cox throwing a few punches before Divoff gets choked out on the ground.

BUT, there are several moments of absolute insanity that make for some good laughter. Pike is interrogating two terrorists and does the good old Russian roulette to get the terrorists to talk. Typically we are used to finding our hero show he never had a bullet in the gun after all, but not Pike, the first time he pulls the trigger blows the mans head off and sends blood splashing on the other man. "I guess he wasn't lucky" is our hero's one liner.

Then we have a hilarious scene with an Asian woman karate champion who gets knocked out and then hurled off a roof by another baddie!

Reccomendened only for the low budget action fans who want a laugh over a beer.
