Even before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace made its way to the theatre, Newsweek published an article bashing the film, whose criticisms were based on the trailer’s upbeat tone and rumors. Moreover, the piece also took shots at Jake Lloyd, who was 9 at the time, following the rumors surrounding his portrayal of young Anakin Skywalker.
Furious by the article, which targeted Lloyd without even seeing the film, The Da Vinci Code director Ron Howard wrote a letter in support of the child actor to the outlet.

The Trailer for Netflix’s Ashley Madison Docuseries Has Sex, Shame, and One Life-Ruining Data Breach
“Life Is Short. Have an Affair.”
That was the tagline for — and the promise of — AshleyMadison.com, the controversial website where married people could sign up to have an affair with another married person. It seemed like a good idea to many — especially those who directly profited from the proposition — until the site’s servers were subjected to arguably the biggest data breach of all time. The hack exposed millions of users’ very personal data, ending marriages and ruining lives.
Netflix on Wednesday released the trailer for its three-part docuseries “Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies, & Scandal.” It hails from Minnow Films and is directed by Toby Paton; each episode is 50-minutes long. The series is produced by Chris McLaughlin and executive produced by Fiona Caldwell and Sophie Jones. Episodes are directed by Zoe Hutton and Gagan Rehill.

First-person horror (both survival and straight-up), has had something of a comeback lately, and the market is saturated with top-quality examples, like MADiSON, Outlast, and Amnesia, among many, many others. If nothing else, this makes it difficult to catch my eye and stand out in the world of horror these days.
That’s why when Reveil was originally announced, trailers dropped and more information dropped, it caught my eye and then some, but the question is, is Reveil good?
Reveil is All About the Setting, Not so Much the Scare
During my time with Reveil, I found myself wondering exactly what was happening, and that is meant entirely as a compliment. You’ll spend the first few hours exploring the same, yet slightly different, environments, with nothing but the voice of the protagonist as a company. Jake Lloyd played Anakin Skywalker in 1999’s Star Wars: Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace and left the limelight shortly after the film’s release.
In a new interview, Lloyd’s mother, Lisa Lloyd, updated the public on her son and dispelled rumors that had plagued the Star Wars community for many years.
Lisa talked to Scripps News and said her son was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2008 after struggling and talking about living in different realities, seeing people with “black eyes,” and mentioning having conversations with The Daily Show host Jon Stewart.
On top of that, Jake seemed to have a neurological condition called anosognosia, which causes a patient to be in denial about their symptoms.
“He didn’t think he needed to take medication because he wasn’t sick,” Lisa said. “He didn’t think he needed to go to the therapist because there’s nothing wrong with him.

George Lucas handpicked Jake Lloyd to play young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace out of thousands of kids. However, time hasn’t been kind to Lloyd, as the actor has faced a variety of mental and legal issues, which some believed were exacerbated by the negative reaction to The Phantom Menace.

Jake Lloyd’s mother, Lisa, recently spoke with Scripps News to provide an update on her son and to set the record straight on what he really thinks of Star Wars.
She explained that Jake first started having issues in high school when he began talking about “realities” and not knowing whether he was in this reality or a different one. One doctor suggested that he might have bipolar disorder, but the medications didn’t work and the delusions got worse.

In 2017, like a lot of Louis C.K. fans, filmmaker Caroline Suh wasn’t sure what to make of the allegations of sexual misconduct against the comedian that were detailed in a New York Times story. The report included female comics’ accounts of C.K. exposing himself to them, which he admitted to, and led FX, Netflix and C.K.’s management company, 3Arts, to drop him.
“I watched his show religiously,” Suh says. “And when the article came out, I was surprised and honestly thought, ‘Is it really that bad that he should be banished from the scene?’ I didn’t really know how to think about it.”
Nearly six years later, now that C.K. has sold out Madison Square Garden and won two Grammys for his comedy albums, Suh and her co-director, Cara Mones, interrogate questions about sex and power raised by the comic’s downfall and comeback in their new documentary,...

Two of the nation’s biggest purveyors of primetime television are relying more heavily on other kinds of video inventory to fuel their advertising flows for 2023 and 202r,
Fox Corp. and Paramount Global are both near the end of their processes in TV’s annual “upfront” ad sales market, and both expect to see some volume gains in specific areas of their portfolio. In a weak market, however, those increases appear to be coming from what have long been seen as ancillary products, not their usual stock in trade.
Fox expects the volume of ad commitments it has secured for the upfront to grow for its sports programming; at its Tubi streaming hub; and Fox News Media, according to people familiar with the matter. When it comes to Fox Entertainment, however, there was no information provided about volume of commitments, only an indication that Fox’s broadcast programming increased the amount of inventory sold.

Spoiler alert: The following article discusses major plot points from “You” Season 4 Part 2.
“He can’t keep getting away with it,” one might think (à la “Breaking Bad’s” Jesse) when watching each new season of Netflix’s “You.” The soapy thriller, which follows its ever-murderous, ever-weaseling antagonist Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) as he terrorizes and kills person after person, underwent a format change in Season 4 before pulling the rug out from viewers once again in Part 2. With a twist so delirious and ripped directly from Goldberg’s deranged psyche (moonlighting as Professor Jonathan Moore), showrunner Sera Gamble and star Badgley were well aware of the pressures to keep audiences on their toes as they look ahead to new dynamics in a potential fifth season.

It's the beginning of the end for the "Fast & Furious" franchise, with "Fast X," the first half of the two-part conclusion of the series, speeding its way into theaters later this year. As was announced in 2022, Academy Award-winner and Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, is joining the "Fast" family as the mysterious new character, Tess. While little has been made known about her new character, Larson's past performances make her a perfect addition to the action franchise centering on fast cars, heists, spies, and loyalty.
Larson has been acting since she was just a child, with her breakthrough performance on the sitcom "Raising Dad" occurring when she was only 12 years old. She would go on to appear in bit parts in films like "13 Going on 30" as one of the Six Chicks, or in "Sleepover," where she plays an 8th grader with a driver's license because she's been held back so many times.

Taylor Ann Green is opening up about her split from “Southern Charm” co-star, Shep Rose.
“We are not together,” she tells Andy Cohen on Thursday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live”, adding that she has also moved into her “own place.”
Green says that reports of their breakup came out “a few weeks before we actually, officially made things real,” but hints that Rose’s fear of commitment was, indeed, an issue.
Asked point-blank whether she believes that Rose was faithful to her outside an incident involving a stairwell kiss, Green tries to play coy by suggesting, “You can ask him that question.” Pushed again for her personal take on it, she caves, “I would probably have to assume not.”
She says that she “absolutely” believes that Rose would come to the conclusion that he wants to marry if given more time, but he “definitely” doesn’t want to...

Trevor Noah took a few digs at Republican Congressman Madison Cawthorn on Thursday night’s “The Daily Show,” after airing a montage of several news reports about Cawthorn’s recent legal woes.
Some of his recent infractions included driving with a revoked license and being flagged by airport security for stowing a loaded handgun in his carry on bag.
“First, Madison Cawthorn was pulled over for swerving, then the cops found out he had an expired license plate. And then, he was busted for having a revoked drivers’ license. I mean, those are Hall of Fame numbers right there,” Noah said. “I don’t even think O.J. broke that many laws during his cop chase.”
And because Cawthorn has a revoked license, Noah jokingly warned his viewers before they considered giving the politician a ride to the airport (or anywhere else), after he was caught for the second time...

An eight-hour drama inspired by Carolyn Arnold’s “Madison Knight” detective novels is being developed by Muse Entertainment and Pop Fiction Entertainment.
Hélène Joy will star as Madison Knight, a daring detective who works to investigate criminals throughout the series. Orion Lee (“First Cow”) will portray Knight’s work partner, Detective Steven Hung. The action-packed crime drama is set on both the Pacific coastline of Sydney, Australia and the wilderness of British Columbia, Canada.
“As I read the books, I was immediately taken with Madison as a leading female character. She is unapologetic, unpredictable and deeply flawed. An extremely reluctant heroine if you will. What I love most is her sardonic nature and deeply sarcastic sense of humor. She doesn’t suffer fools and has little time for small talk,” said Joy, on her new role of Knight, in a statement.
Australian writer Justin Monjo and Canadian writer Lynn Coady are developing the series.

"What if I pushed you over and over again?" Gravitas has released an official trailer for an indie horror / psychological thriller titled The Madness Inside Me, from filmmaker Matthew Berkowitz. This initially premiered at the Filmfest Oldenburg in Germany last year. A forensic psychiatrist's husband is killed during a home invasion, but instead of identifying the killer, she recants. "Is her relationship with criminals an excuse for her to rebel or is this the person who has always been inside her?" Merrin Dungey stars as Madison, along with Devon Graye, Thomas Q. Jones, and Anthony DeSando. At first glance, this looks like a very artsy exploration of guilt and instability, exploring the deep, dark aspects inside of us. Just as TV networks are starting to see new opportunities to snare much-needed ad cash, their digital competitors are going after the money as well.
Roku, the popular streaming-video interface, will on June 22 kick off a series of presentations to advertisers from digital companies known as the “NewFronts.” In a more typical year, the “NewFronts” take place before a series of “upfronts,” or Madison Avenue showcases from TV networks. Like TV’s “upfront” showcases, the “NewFronts” had to be scrapped and retooled for a pandemic-tossed era in which advertisers and executives can’t convene.
