Top 10? Hell, the only 10! Well not quite, but damn close! We’ve actually tallied a solid list of ten horror/thrillers that happened to be set on Valentine’s Day itself. Now, some spend the entire day reveling in lovelorn lethality, some merely glance past the February 14th date, but in just about every case, old cupid’s shooting an arrow in the head, if not the heart. Ah hell, you’ve heard enough. Here’s the Top 10 Valentine’s Day Set Horror/Thrillers!
#10. Lovers Lane (1999)
Before Anna Faris was spoofing Scary MOVIEs and wooing the world as The House Bunny, she happened to stroll down Lovers Lane, a listless paint-by-numbers slasher flick about a man who went on an indiscriminate murder spree on Valentine’s Day 13 year prior, only to return to town to stalk and slash the victims’ children, foully disemboweling them with his hook-handed murder weapon. Lovers Lane...

It is 2023, and streaming services are constantly in our faces and on our TVs and devices. Whether it be Max (or The Artist Formerly Known As HBO Max), Apple TV+, Disney+, Paramount+, or old stalwarts like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video, it seems like we have unlimited options for content.
But even with genre-specific services like Shudder and Screambox, free-services full of movies like Tubi, or deep cut catalogs like The Criterion Channel or Arrow Player, there are still many movies which are not currently available on any service, so we have to call physical media in for the rescue.
Here are 5 excellent horror movies that are not available to stream, rent, or buy on any digital service, but do have excellent physical media Blu-ray and 4K Uhd releases.

With roots in real-life murders, “The Hook” urban legend goes hand-in-hand — or should I say hand-in-hook? — with the slasher genre. After being referenced in ’80s slashers He Knows You’re Alone and Final Exam, it went on to at least partially inspire five slashers from the ’90s: Candyman, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend, Campfire Tales, and Lovers Lane. Unfortunately, the latter is the least effective of the bunch.
To be fair, Lovers Lane was made independently for $500,000 — a fraction of the budget of the studio films — before being released direct to video in 1999. Directed by Jon Steven Ward and written by Geof Miller (DeepStar Six) and Rory Veal, the film is best remembered for being the film debut of Anna Faris, one year prior to her starring turn in Scary Movie. It was on this set that she met co-star Ben Indra, to whom she was...

The Valentine’s Day slasher Lovers Lane (watch it Here) isn’t a very popular movie, but that isn’t stopping the folks at Arrow Video from giving it a special edition Blu-ray release… although they’re doing a couple months after Valentine’s Day, so genre fans won’t be able to add it to their collections in time for the holiday this year. The street date for this Blu-ray release is April 25th.
Copies are available for pre-order on the Arrow Video website, and fans can choose from the standard edition and the limited edition, which comes with an exclusive slipcover.
Directed by Jon Ward from a screenplay written by Geof Miller and Rory Veal, Lovers Lane has the following synopsis: Passions are aroused and old wounds reopened in this sassy post-Scream teen slasher based on the urban legend of “The Hook”. A steamy secret tryst that was...

Our series on big-screen remakes continues with a cult horror film that kickstarted the illustrious career of Steve McQueen. This week, Cinelinx looks at The Blob (1958 vs. 1988). Come inside to see how these two films stack up.
The original version of The Blob was a low-budget monster film made for $110,000. The titular creature was originally supposed to be called The Molten Meteor Monster, which then was changed to The Mass, which turned into The Glob, and Finally The Blob. The film's tongue-in-cheek title song was written by Burt Bacharach and Mack David, which became a hit. The movie was directed by Irvin Yeaworth who specialized in directing motivational educational and religious films, so this was a departure for him. The film was a moderate success, grossing over $4 million, although the critics weren’t overly kind. It has a 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite its cheesiness, its reputation has grown over...

To celebrate the release of True Deception – available on DVD 25th April – we have a copy to giveaway!
A stellar ensemble cast of James Franco (127 Hours), Ed Harris (Snowpiercer), Amber Heard (The Danish Girl), and Christian Slater (True Romance) stars in this semi-autobiographical story about a writer’s obsession with his own past and a real-life murder case. An unnerving thriller packed with stunning performances, shock twists, and psychological tension.
Director Pamela Romanowsky has also done a fantastic job in her feature debut, crafting a film that’s equally dark and complex as the source book, Stephen Elliot’s acclaimed memoir ‘The Adderall Diaries’. With its flashbacks and non-linear narrative, True Deception will have you second-guessing Elliot’s story every step of the way and promises to be one of the year’s most psychologically affecting thrillers. Not to be missed.

If you were watching the first live episode of "The Voice" last night, you probably noticed a few laugh-out-loud moments. Not the intentional kind, more like the uncomfortable kind. The show started out with the four judges performing a Queen medley between and then we quickly moved into some even more squirm-inducing territory.
Here are the top five awkward moments from last night's 'Voice":
1. Beverly McClellan sang Melissa Etheridge's "I'm the Only One," and Blake Shelton had this to say: "The first time I saw you, you scared the hell out of me ... with your singing, and now you come out here looking sexy, and Hot, and Daddy likey." Really?
2. Dia Frampton from the rock band Meg and Dia sang an awesome rendition of Kanye West's "Heartless." Everyone loved it, especially Christina Aguilera, who commented: "You're so cuddly, and sweet, and cozy, every time I see,...

Teenage Wasteland: The Slasher Movie Uncut
Written by J.A. Kerswell | Published by New Holland Publishers
Price: £15.99 | 208 pages, paperback
You may not know this, but you probably should, I am a Huge slasher movie fan – from the classic franchises such as Halloween, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, to the more lesser-known (at least in the mainstream) films such as Lovers Lane, Intruder, Aerobicide and Cheerleader Camp. So when I was asked if I wanted to review a brand new book covering the subject I jumped at the chance!
Teenage Wasteland: The Slasher Movie Uncut is a 208 page tome that covers the history of the slasher genre, from grand guinol, the German krimi and giallo to the explosion of the genre in the late 70s and early 80s, and it’s decline and resurrection in the 90s… It’s a huge subject matter – larger than you’d...

Riley Smith, even if you don't know who he is right off the bat by name, I am sure you have seen something that he has appeared in. This multi-talented young actor originally modeled, then switched over to acting. He started out in horror films and teeny bopper films. He know finds himself with his most challenging role in an episode of The Closer which is set to air in Dec. He then even proved to be a fine singer! Is there anything he can't do?!? Riley Smith got his break with leading roles in two horror films- Lovers Lane with then unknown Anna Farris (who got her big break just one year later in Scary Movie, in part because of young Riley) and in the homo erotic Voodoo Academy which was developed for Charles Band's Full Moon Pictures with David Decoteau directing. After appearing in these movies, more mainstream work followed.

Anna Faris went into meltdown after her divorce - frequently drinking, refusing to wash, and flirting outrageously in nightclubs.
The Scary Movie star wed Ben Indra in 2004 after they met on the set of movie Lovers Lane, but she filed for divorce in April 2007.
The actress admits the marriage break-up hit her hard - and she tried to compensate with a wild, party lifestyle.
She says, "I tend to be a serial monogamist. But the next thing you know, I'm single and living in an apartment full of potato chips, mustard and tons of beer. I wore this grubby Garfield t-shirt and these baggy jeans all the time.
"Personal hygiene? Nah. I would talk to my cat, I was drunk all the time. I would go to bars alone. I would talk to guys and be like, 'Sooo, what's your story? You wanna go out?' If they turned me down, I'd be like, 'So, what's your friend like?' It was a very selfish time in my life but also strangely liberating. I felt weirdly empowered."
Faris later remarried, exchanging vows with actor Chris Pratt earlier this year.

Often overlooked by horror fans Mystery Science Theatre 3000 was an excellent source for forgotten and obscure horror fans. With the release MST3K Xv horror fans are treated to two gems of horror/ sci-fi magic.

Dark Sky Films sent along info about personal appearances that will be made by the cast and creators of Deadgirl when it plays midnight shows next weekend. The movie will have its witching hour screenings Friday-Saturday, July 24-25 in nine major cities, with Q&As following several of them; see below for the complete rundown.
Directed by Gadi Harel and Marcel Sarmiento from a script by Trent Haaga, Deadgirl tells the disturbing story of two high-school friends (Noah Segan and Shiloh Fernandez) who discover a naked young woman (Jenny Spain) strapped to a table in the basement of an abandoned hospital. She seems barely alive, and the way in which each young man reacts to their find sends the story spiraling into increasingly unpleasant directions.
